Re: mounting partitions

yeah, included sudo and my password.

what's the significance of the differences between the outputs?

drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4,0K Nov 23 20:38 /data

total 16K
drwx------ 2 root root 16K Nov 23 20:38 lost+found

It shows mounted at /data so do you have a /data mountpoint :?:

Check with ls -lhd /data and paste the results here.

Re: mounting partitions

Thanks for the reply. I had a look at that earlier (and gparted), and just checked it again. Pressing the triangle (next to the star) doesn't seem to do anything, however 'additional partition options > edit mount options' does seem to work. Looks like the documents, music, videos folders are now wh...

mounting partitions

Hi, I've just installed Linux Mint 19.2 (having previously used 18.2), and having trouble mounting two partitions. There's plenty of information out there (including on here), but I'm tying myself in knots with it, so any help (or pointers) would be much appreciated. ------------------- 66 gb partit...

Re: Unable to delete files from trash

Hi, I had the same problem a few weeks back (The first method didn't work so I tried the second). Firstly, just try plugging in the drive, then opening Nemo and 'Empty Rubbish Bin'. In Cinnamon I used Nero to get rid of them. (in Mate, use Thunar I assume) The way I managed it - Open Nemo Right-cli...

Re: Unable to delete files from trash

Probably be logging out and back in (or reboot). As in, the files will be lone gone as a result of the format, and it'll likely just be a caching issue... Thanks for the reply. So the files are gone after restarting, but when I plug another USB back into the computer the files reappear in the trash...

Unable to delete files from trash

Hi,

I deleted some files from a USB flash drive, then reformatted the drive.
The files are still visible in the Trash, but I can't delete them (nor can I restore them).

Any suggestions on how I can force their deletion?
(I'm running Linux Mint 19.)

Thanks,
David

Linux Mint 19 boot problem

Hi, I'm running Linux Mint 19 cinnamon on an ASUS all in one desktop computer. Was running fine until last week when I attached it to a projector via HDMI cable. When starting I get rapidly moving text and something (?) that reads like "PCIe Bus error" I turned the computer off, and then went to adv...

Please suggest me an OS, too

I've recently acquired an old laptop (Compaq 6720s) that was destined for scrap, and now I need to choose an OS. I'd prefer to stick with Linux Mint (which is what I use for my desktop). However I'm tempted to go for something more lightweight - I've had a quick look at Lubuntu 18.04, and having rea...

Re: Wifi only available after restarting computer

I tried 17.3, 18.0, 18.1 last year - wifi would work when booting from the Live USB, but not when installed.
Also tried Ubuntu (17.4)

After having some wifi success with 18.2, I'm a bit wary of installing 18.3 instead (unless I can find another SSD/HDD to install it on)

Wifi only available after restarting computer

I'm new to LinuxMint (18.2) having used it for a few months after switching from Windows. It's all good apart from the following wifi issue. When I turn the computer on, I can't connect to the wifi network, although I can connect when I restart the computer. However, on the last few occassions I nee...

Re: Broadcom WiFi works in live image but not after installation

I had this problem earlier in the year. I tried Linux Mint 17.2, 17.3, 18.0, 18.1 and Ubuntu 17.04 and encountered the same problem everytime. It was very annoying :( However, I recently downloaded and installed Lint Mint 18.2 and it seems to work. Although I have to restart the computer after turni...

Re: Wifi issue

Nope, that didn't work.
I'm assuming the latest Kernel is 4.4.0-75
(4.4.0-21 was installed previously, which I have now removed)
