Re: Redshift alternative to f.lux easy configuration

It does! This forum should have a 'Thanks' button. Just to complete: for LAT and LON 2 decimals are sufficient. This is a more comprehensive list of switches: -b DAY:NIGHT Screen brightness to apply (between 0.1 and 1.0) -c FILE Load settings from specified configuration file -g R:G:B Additional gam...

Re: Power Management - What is keeping my computer awake?

Yep. I've even disconnected the LAN cable to check if that would help.
And at this stage the computer is still awake, it is only the displays that have to be turned off. Like I said they do, but only for a few seconds.

Power Management - What is keeping my computer awake?

Hi there, I'm looking for some help. I'm using Cinnamon on Mint 19, although my problem started earlier, on 18.3 (which is why I upgraded to 19 in the first place). I used to have my screens (I'm on a two monitor system) to turn off and eventually the computer to suspend using Power Management. Sinc...

Re: mintupgrade check: "pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks" – How to diagnose & fix?

You can downgrade a package like this: apt install <package>=<version> Ah, alright, I was afraid that would be the answer. I just hoped there would be an easier way by downloading and installing an older version from https://mesa.freedesktop.org/archive/ and update that through the Update Manager. ...

In the meantime, why not just downgrade mesa again on xenial?
Because I'm a half-noob and I can't find out how to do that :?

Re: mintupgrade check: "pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks" – How to diagnose & fix?

Hi everyone, We're just after finding out Ubuntu backported mesa into Xenial with a version number higher than the one in Bionic. They basically broke the upgrade path between 16.04 and 18.04 and that affects us as well. Please hold while we try to find a workaround for this problem. Is this why ht...

Re: mintupgrade check: "pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks" – How to diagnose & fix?

Hi there, Make sure these packages are not foreign, i.e. that they don't come from PPAs. The quickest way to do this is to remove/disable all PPAs, and then to ask Software Sources to downgrade foreign packages. If there aren't please paste the output of their policy, with "apt policy packagename"....

Re: mintupgrade check: "pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks" – How to diagnose & fix?

Same issue here.

Code: Select all

apt-cache search libegl1
shows that libegl1 is referred to by libegl1-mesa, but

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get --reinstall install libegl1-mesa
nor

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg-reconfigure libegl1-mesa
solves the issue.

Could it be a bug in the Mesa library?

Re: wired does not connect on boot if vpn option enabled

Just for the sake of completeness: the bug still exists (I'm using kernel 4.10.0-33 now), but the workaround posted by @leetwanker solved it for me: Let NetworkManager store the password in plaintext in the configuration file in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ . To do this: Open a terminal. ...

Re: Help with Google Earth

The problem is on more than one video driver already, both on nvidia and on amdgpu.
Also, it fails on some 18.2 Sonya but works on others.
Could it be the kernel? I am on 4.10.0-32-generic #36~16.04.1-Ubuntu (check in terminal with uname -a).

Re: Help with Google Earth

I have the same problem on a freshly installed 18.2 Cinnamon. The pro versions from both the Google site and the Software Manager repos give the same result. It's both version 7.3 so that's not a surprise. Maybe the problen is the amdgpu driver for my graphics card? Unfortunately the amdgpu-pro driv...

Almost another year and it's still there in 18.2 Cinnamon x64.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try them.

Re: Mint 17 and 18 AMDGPU drivers! Look here before doing anything!

Well, I do have an issue, because since installing the AMD drivers, Power Management cannot get the display to sleep. The screen blanks and the monitor turns itself off, but after 5 seconds and then the screen wakes up again. Strange thing is, putting the computer to sleep does actually work. Removi...

Re: Mint 17 and 18 AMDGPU drivers! Look here before doing anything!

Iḿ very sorry Citizen229, I completely missed the last sentence and thus the link. Now it installs fine, thank you very much.

I have one additional question though: according to the Software Manager, I also have "Xserver-xorg-video-radeon-pro" installed. Should I leave that or remove it also?

Re: Mint 17 and 18 AMDGPU drivers! Look here before doing anything!

I have a Gigabyte Radeon RX570, but when I try to install the Ubuntu drivers using the method from https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMDGPU-PRO-Install.aspx it replies: "Unsupported OS" and quits. uname -a responds: Linux heinhuizLinux 4.8.0-58-generic #63~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jun 26...

@pdc_2: It's not just the GUi, it seems. Adding the Cinnamon GUI to Mate *) does not solve the problem, settings changed there don have any effect. *) This can be done, if you have both desktops installed, by editing /usr/share/applications/cinnamon-wacom-panel.desktop, adding MATE; after the OnlySh...
