This still leaves open the question of why anyone would want to encode to mpeg2 video unless it's for a DVD. It's just awful by today's standards. I have several External HDDs 3TB and 4TB...all are plug in and play. Just copy and paste or cut and paste to backup files.

The software you're looking for is...Avidemux...which is available from the Software Manager.
