Re: Timeshift frustration

A good reason not to use this software at all ...of cause there's no warranties or guarantees to cover themselves...that's why they say "use it at your own risk". People see this software as an easy or should I say lazy way to back up...it should only ever be used to fix a minor issue . The "Discla...

Since you haven't restored a Snapshot yourself...how do you know what it does or doesn't do anyway ? Very simple. I read the description ;) Did you read this... Re: Timeshift and required file systems?

Less a test, more a failure to understand the purpose of timeshift! I know Timeshift Documentation says it doesn't back up personal files and that's a shame...that's why I conducted my tests...what's the point of having back-up software that doesn't back up everything. If Timeshift backed up...

Re: Timeshift and required file systems?

Timeshift is a very crude attempt to emulate the maker of major woes in Windwoes, System Restore. You're better off to take regular disk images using Clonezilla live. It takes a little getting used to but it's saved my bacon many times. I totally agree with this statement. Op, You're much better of...

Re: Timeshift frustration

I've been using Timeshift for a while...not long ago I ran a simple test to see if Timeshift was as good as some people say. I placed a Video and a Folder with some Documents in it on my Mint 18.3 Desktop...then created a Snapshot...I then deleted both the Video and Folder. The restored Snapshot wa...

Re: Timeshift frustration

I haven't tried Mint 19 yet as I never install Beta of anything...but I have my doubts about Timeshift. I've been using Timeshift for a while...not long ago I ran a simple test to see if Timeshift was as good as some people say. I placed a Video and a Folder with some Documents in it on my Mint 18.3...

Mostly likely due to Linux being totally different then what they are used too.
There's an easy fix for that...learn...just like everyone else does.

At least Mint isn't forced down peoples throats like evil Micro$oft does with that crappy Windoze Spyware 10. :D

I don't care who dislikes Mint...nerds or not. I've tried the rest and now I run the best...Mint Cinnamon. :D Some don't know a good thing when they see it...as for Mint being a Linux Distro for Newbies...if that were true then why do so many Newbies have so much trouble. :)

Re: Some random thoughts on Mint vs o/s X +Windows 10

That's easy...never used a Mac...never wanted too.

Only tried Windoze Spyware 10 in a VM and it sucked...Windoze 7 was better.

Mint is great...solid as a rock...best OS out there...don't want to run anything else...leaves Mac and Windoze for dead. :D

Re: Boring Mint??

I suppose Mint is a little boring compared to Windoze. Running Windoze 7 you’re constantly scanning for Viruses and Malware...then trying to remove them. Manually updating all Software...Drivers and Web Browsers which takes forever. Removing Bloatware that Windoze constantly adds to the file system....

Re: Updating Programs

The Mint Update Manager updates everything except VirtualBox...you just have to wait. When I first switched to Mint and saw this happening I couldn't believe my eyes...how spoilt are us Linux Mint users. :D
