Re: Mint keeps forgetting how to do sound
This is still a problem. Every time I use my computer, I have to delete the contents of the pulse folder and switch the audio settings to get the sound to work.

Mint keeps forgetting how to do sound
I just slapped my Nuc (NUC6CAYH) onto a different Samsung tv (UN40EH5000FXZA ), then installed PulseAudio Volume control and selected Digital Stereo (HDMI) output in the Configuration tab. The sound worked. But if I leave the computer alone for too long or restart it. the audio cuts out or becomes s...

Re: No Sound in Chromium
Problem is back. No sound in Firefox nor Chromium. But there IS system sound and I can play audio with VLC. I tried emptying the Pulse Audio folder and the other troubleshooting guide tricks. The terminal output of inxi -Fxz ystem: Kernel: 5.15.0-58-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 11.3.0 De...

Re: Can't access Windows 10 folder via Network
In Linux Mint, I went to Network and clicked on the "Windows Network" folder. I typed "smb:///vwin10.local/shared" into the navigation bar. I got the error: "Could not find 'smb:///vwin10.local/shared' Please check the spelling and try again." I cannot reproduce your su...

Can't access Windows 10 folder via Network
I've added a Linux Mint 21.1 NUC to a LAN network consisting of a Windows 10 htpc and a Hackintosh. I want to be able to open folders with media files on the Windows htpc from the Linux Mint NUC. What I've tried: When I click on Network/Windows Network, it is empty. From the htpc, when I click on th...

Re: How to install Japanese and French keyboard? [SOLVED]
This thread was incredibly helpful to me in setting up Romanji switching for typing Japanese! As well, in Mint 21.1, there are fairly explicit instructions in the "Input Method" application accessible from the Start Menu.

Can't make changes to display settings due to strange error message
I'm getting the same error , but "Cinnamon Settings Daemon xandr" isn't in my start up items and I can't find it in the list of applications to add. I did monkey with my display settings when I had trouble with my old tv, but I thought I reversed all that... Please help? Here are my inxi -...

Re: Auto-loading Subtitles on Celluloid
If you're using Linux Mint Cinnamon, then you can just go to any folder, right click on an empty area to get the context menu, and select 'Create New Document', then pick 'Empty Document'. That will create a plain text file, which you can name mpv.conf. Or from the desktop start menu you can pick '...

Re: Auto-loading Subtitles on Celluloid
I believe the default behaviour of mpv and Celluloid is to automatically load subtitle files with the same name as the video file. So if you're playing a video named 'video1.mkv', then if you have a subtitle file named 'video1.srt' in the same folders as the video, it should automatically load. I t...

[SOLVED] Auto-loading Subtitles on Celluloid
Since I can't get VLC to work in Mint, I've been playing around with the packaged "Media Player" and also "Celluloid". Celluloid is a lot smoother and I prefer the gui. However It doesn't automatically find my subtitles (which have the same name in the same folder). Worse, it doe...

Going into Pulse Audio Control, the "Configuration tab" I changed the setting from "Headphones"(?!?) to "Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output", then restarted.

[SOLVED] No Sound after upgrade
Please see signature for vital stats. I just upgraded from 18.2 to 19.3. I noticed I had audio in Chrome, but nowhere else other than occasional beeps. (No firefox, no start up chime, nothing when playing videos) I tried this: Delete the files in /home/YourUserName/.config/pulse then run pulseaudio ...

SOLVED Re: Cannot get TV overscan compensation on a NUC PC with Intel Graphics
Just updated to 19.3 and had a little hiccup.
The solution still works, but I had to change "DP1" to "DP-1":
Thanks again!

[SOLVED] Browsers "unable to connect to your Camera"
I'm trying to use web conferencing (vmixcall). I'm using the Logitech C615 webcam. I installed "cheese" from the software manager and it works. When I attempt to open vmix on either Firefox or Chrome, I get the identical error: "Sorry, but we were unable to connect to your Camera. Ple...
