Global DNS settings

The DNS settings can be changed through the network settings (ipv4 and ipv6 tabs etc), but apparently this can only be changed for every wifi network (SSID) individually, not globally for all wifi connections. Is it indeed that way or is there a way to change the settings globally?

Nemo bug

Create a folder and then a file with the same name, inside the folder. Now try to cut the file and paste it outside the folder. You'll get the message whether you want to replace the folder with the file, as if the file is a folder or vise-versa!!! And if you choose to "replace" the folder, you get ...

Re: Themes bug

Just to be sure what you are talking about, you mean the sidebar on left correct? The one that is dark in your screenshot? That has always been dark in all Mint themes. If you're talking about something else I'm missing, I apologize. Yes, I'm talking about that sidebar. I'm telling you that I did a...

It's not a bug. It's supposed to be that way. It's been that way in our default themes for a long time.
But the menu was white in the 1st place. You're saying that after switching to dark theme and back, there's no way to have a white menu anymore? Why would that be intentional?

Themes bug

After switching to Y dark theme and switching back to the Y light theme, the column menu in Nemo remains dark. That happened in Mint 18.3 and it happens in 19 too. I hope it gets fixed.
In the meantime, any workaround?

Chromium language pack missing after Tara update

In Mint 18.3 I was using Chromium, with its language pack installed, which was available in the Software Manager. After making a clean install of Mint 19, the language pack is not available in the manager. So, I wasn't able to switch the Chromium UI to my language. I found it, and installed it from ...

Mint-Y recycle bin tray icon

As it was announced yesterday, the Mint 19 beta versions will be released on Monday, and the default theme and icons will be switched to Mint-Y, due to the theme engine in GTK 3.22. Anyway, I've noticed that the recycle bin icon in the tray (when set to appear there), doesn't switch to a full, fatte...

Re: Trouble with 4.15.0-20 kernel

Same problem on my HP 15-d008sv with Intel Core i3-3110M. Wifi not working and graphics (Cinnamon) not hardware accelerated. Went back to the -15 kernel.
Is that going to be handled in some way from the Mint devs, or is it a solely Ubuntu staff matter?

Re: [Worked around] Failed to connect to upstart

This was the update that happened just before the failure (on Linux Mint 18 Sarah): virtualbox (5.0.40-dfsg-0ubuntu1.16.04.2) to 5.1.34-dfsg-0ubuntu1.16.04.2 virtualbox-dkms (5.0.40-dfsg-0ubuntu1.16.04.2) to 5.1.34-dfsg-0ubuntu1.16.04.2 virtualbox-ext-pack (5.0.40-0ubuntu1.16.04.1) to 5.1.34-0ubunt...

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get remove virtualbox*
solved the problem. I don't know why, but I remembered I installed a virtualbox-something update this morning...
Yeah. Had the exact same problem after updating today virtualbox. Damned update! The above solved it. Thanks a lot!

That's it! Was hoping to get the path to the binary.

@Vasilis_K
Would you try to run the line above in a terminal and see if you can start the application?

Code: Select all

masterpdfeditor4
did the job!
Thanks a lot you guys! :D

Re: Deleted program menu shortcut

You could run the application. Open then a terminal and run top or htop . In the last column to the right you will find the command for all the currently running applications/processes. Hope this helps. "top" gives me the list you mention. The command is "masterpdfeditor" but it gives the message "...

Re: Deleted program menu shortcut

I imagine that it would be possible to create a new launcher for the application in question using the menu editor. This is how it looks like under Xfce : menueditor.png Click on "+" in the menubar and choose "Add Launcher". Fill in the command for your application in the corresponding box. Click o...

[SOLVED] Deleted program menu shortcut

I entered the menu editor of the Mint menu (the one that opens through the the bottom left Mint icon). There, I deleted by accident a programs shortcut, and I can't bring it back. I tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling it, even a system restore with Timeshift, but no good. The program is ...

Re: Software Manager bug in Mint 18.3

Well, the problem is obvious now. After opening the manager, the data size of the 1st app I open is correct. After that, the more apps I open the more the reported sizes increase! Exiting the manager and opening it again seems to start over the issue again. I don't know, but maybe this has to do wit...

Re: Software Manager in Mint 18.3

If any software needs to be removed, Software Manager will tell you as soon as you hit the Remove button. Yes, it does. But I prefer it as it was before, in the main app's page. Anyway, today the manager seems to show the correct data sizes. I don't know what was wrong before. If the issue ...

Software Manager bug in Mint 18.3

The new software manager in Mint 18.3 Cinnamon has some cons compared to the previous version: In the previous version, when clicking an installed app to see its details, it showed all the dependencies that would be uninstalled if you uninstalled the app. Now it's not like that. It just shows the da...
