Re: problem with webpage (Chromium)

Thanks for the replies. I also have v80.0.3987.87. The only extension installed is AdBlock Plus, but disabling doesn't make a difference. Does Chromium have a "safe mode" option? I did do a Google search for that and came up empty. I found the Chromium-discuss forum @ groups.google. If no one here h...

problem with webpage (Chromium)

I can't view the map on this web page: https://www.ncdhhs.gov/covid-19-case-count-nc , using Chromium v80. Any advice? Is there a support forum for Chromium?

Re: error while updating "could not download all repository indexes"

Thanks for replies. I guess it will remain a mystery how these PPA's ended up on my machine. The only time I use the command line prompt is when instructed by others in this forum, as I don't know the commands to do much of anything at the shell level. Wait, that gives me an idea.... ... ... ... ......

Re: error while updating "could not download all repository indexes"

It's not cool to insinuate an app did something this creepy (unless it was disclosed) just because you can't bear to admit you forgot. Sorry, I'm sure I have a lot to learn before I might avoid making 'not cool' comments 8) My thoughts were that if a package (app) requires additional software that'...

Re: error while updating "could not download all repository indexes"

Yet you did add them, nothing in Linux Mint would do that on its own. My thoughts were that these PPA's may have been added by another software package that I installed, for example, Plex Media Server. It includes a browser media player that could conceivably require ffmpeg and flash. @pbear, thank...

Re: error while updating "could not download all repository indexes"

Thanks. Not being familiar with the term, I just read that PPA's are non-standard software and/or updates. I unchecked these two in Update Manager / Software Sources / PPAs tab. The update now proceeds without error. I don't recall explicitly installing these PPA's. Is there a log file or other way ...

error while updating "could not download all repository indexes" [SOLVED]

I found several previous threads on update problems such as this but it appears that each case may have different solutions or recommendations depending on the nature of the error msgs. So here's the feedback I get when refreshing the available updates list via the Update Manager gui (I added line r...

need help launching a newly installed app

I just installed uGet using commands provided on the developer's site using the "recommended method" (from uGet PPA). However the program doesn't appear the Whiskers menu so I have no idea how to launch it. Hopefully someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong. Here's the terminal log for the installat...

Re: how to backtrack after attempt to install wrong versoin of an app

I'm not familiar with either app and neither is installed on my system. I have my own backup protocal based in part on Clonezilla, and in fact, I just made a full backup last night. But hopefully there's no need to restore my drive. No, I haven't tried to install the correct version of Adobe Air. It...

how to backtrack after attempt to install wrong versoin of an app

I need to install Adobe Air to support an application. I followed the instructions on this page , but for the wrong Linux Mint version. Before installing the correct version, I want to remove any trace of the failed installation. I located and erased the .deb file, but I'm not sure if the failed dpk...

need help installing print driver (Brother MFC-L2710DW)

18 months has passed since I switched to Linux and with 180 posts in the LM forum under my belt, I shouldn't be asking newbie questions. But here I am again. My newest toy (Brother MFC-L2710SW All-in-One) has me pulling my hair out. The installation guide advises to insert included driver & utility ...

When you select a file to add, do you make sure to click on the checkbox next to the file name you want added?
Oh, $h&t. I didn't even notice the checkboxes. I was simply selecting files I wanted to add. Duh.

@phd21, thanks for tips on PeaZip.

Re: can't add files to existing zip files (Thunar 1.6.11)

Did you install "p7zip-full"? Thanks for your reply. p7zip was installed (apparently) by the LM 18.2 installation disk, not p7zip-full, so I just installed the full version and that didn't fix the issue. BTW, I now see that the archive GUI is actually File-roller 3.16.5, not part of Thunar. Thanks ...

Re: can't add files to existing zip files (Thunar 1.6.11)

I would be grateful if someone running Thunar file manager could confirm that "Add Files" works properly with an existing archive (zip) file, or not. At least that way I'll know if something is broken on my end.

can't add files to existing zip files (Thunar 1.6.11)

I have a number of zip files I created using Archive Manager. I'm unable to 'add' files to any existing zip file. I first tried to drag-and-drop a file onto the zip file. When that didn't work, I opened the folder containing the zip file as Root, but still unable to drag-and-drop. So I opened the zi...

Re: question about setting up dual boot w/Win10

I generally find that dual boot causes more trouble than it's worth. Instead, I have 2 boot partitions, then drop into bios when I want the alternative boot. That's exactly what I plan to do. The recommended tutorials explain what I need to know to do that. Honesly, I don't care to dive into Win10 ...
