Re: Power USB Barcode Scanner

Ok. I found a solution on the Ubuntu forum that appears to be working. Honestly, I'm beginning to think I should always check there first for an answer: 1. Plug the scanner in and open a terminal. Make yourself the root user. sudo su 2. for i in /sys/bus/usb/devices/*/power/autosuspend; do echo 2 > ...

Re: Power USB Barcode Scanner

I see it says "Self Powered" which is not true.

Is there any way to override this setting?

Re: System keeps on logging out

BTW, I fixed this by turning off some touchpad driver on my laptop (IBM T60). The T60 touchpad driver apparently has a conflict with system stability. :D I wish I could remember what I did exactly, why, or how--I think I found the solution on a Ubuntu forum. :( I've also solved a lot of stability is...

Re: Laptop is not power off at Shut down (Mint 14)

Ok. This didn't use to happen to my Lenovo T410si laptop, but now it does. It has been happening for a few days maybe? I'm running LinuxMint 13 Cinnamon 64-bit. I think a recent update to grub or the distro may have broken my system. Are there any recent updates that would cause my laptop to go thro...

Re: Mint 13 Shuts Down on Boot

I am able to boot into LinuxMint 13 Recovery Mode and run all the "fixes". Nothing works.

After viewing the boot sequence text, just before the computer shuts off, I see "Setting Sensor Limits ... [OK]"
Could that be related?

Re: Brother HL-4150cdn & 64-bit Mint Maya can't print

Woa! You can't get to the "Properties" setting? Are we talking about the same program? I am using the system "Printing" application found in: Menu > Administration > Printing Even if I install a fake printer that doesn't exist, I can still right-click on it in this application an...

Mint 13 Shuts Down on Boot

Hello, I have been running Linux Mint 13 on my home built machine for a few months with only minor issues. I did a few system software updates a week or two ago, and now my computer will not boot into Linux Mint 13. Not only will it not boot into the OS, but trying to boot into Mint 13 will complete...

Re: Brother HL-4150cdn & 64-bit Mint Maya can't print

Hey, I just figured out an issue with my wirelessly networked Brother printer. It may be the same thing affecting you. When I added a printer using the Printer app under Administration, it finds my printer, installs the drivers, and says it is installed, but it will not print. The issue is the Devic...

Re: SOLVED Brother HL-2270dW

Ha! I figured out what you meant. In the Printer panel under "Administration", I right-clicked on the printer I added (but could not get to print anything), and then selected "Properties". Under Settings is a field called "Device URI". It has some goofy text in it like:...

Re: SOLVED Brother HL-2270dW

Ok... What? Please help me. I have a similar printer (Brother HL-2170W) that is wirelessly networked. I have been printing from it perfectly on Linux Mint 11, but the upgrade to Linux Mint 13 has left me clueless as to why I can't get this to work. Can you give me a noob's guide on how to get this w...

Re: Compiz doesn't have window borders in 13 MATE?

Yeah...It doesn't make any sense, but gconf-editor is the only way to change Mate themes when using Compiz.

I followed this poster's instructions:

Re: How to change compiz windows theme?

For those of us who are used to the nice GUI theme changing capabilities in LinuxMint 11, could you provide detailed instructions on how to use gconf-editor to change the theme back to Mint-X?

Thanks.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get regular old Desktop icons back, change my theme, and get "right-click" working on LMDE after the Gnome3 upgrade...you guys are clearly more experienced than me. I don't have time for this sh**. I'm a busy web developer. I guess it is time to change...

VICTORY is NEAR! Based of this article: http://www.mjfox.ch/wordpress/ubuntu-11-04-and-that-random-logout-problem/ I figured I would try: sudo apt-get remove xserver-xorg-input-synaptics sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics The moment the last line started executing,...

How about I post each time it happens until the BSOD (Black Screen of Death...followed by login prompt) is fixed?

Anyone else having this issue?

Randomly Logged Out (completely random)

My system (Linux Mint 11, completely updated as of today, running on IBM Lenovo T60), randomly logs me out and I lose all my work. There are several posts about random log-outs, but my issue doesn't seem to fit because it is not related to any particular application or action (I can be 20 miles away...
