Re: Installing LMDE3 from Cinnamon

If you want it on the same machine you could install a dual boot or install it in a virtual machine...

Re: Wireless Scanning - HP 4520

According to the HP HPLIP Supported Printers page , your printer has been supported since at least 2.8.5. What this means is the version of hplip found in the LM repository will (should?) support your device just fine. Suggest you run each of the following commands, in turn: $sudo apt install hplip...

[SOLVED] - Wireless Scanning - HP 4520

I need help with scanning. Using LM 19 Cinnamon. Have HP 4520 AIO (all in one) wirelessly on the net. Printing works, no problem. However, when I try to scan, the program can not find the scanner. I have tried both ‘simple scan’ & ‘xsane’. I think I need a driver for LM but do not know how to find/i...

Re: How to format a hard drive and what file systems to choose?

Another option you might consider would be to install Linux Mint and then install Virtualbox (VB) and install MS Windows in that along with any MS windows applications to run them while still in Linux Mint without having to dual-boot. This is a very good option as it allows you to run multi-OSes at...

Re: Chrome doesn't work

Is it normal for chrome not to work? I tried both cinnamon and mate, and it has the same behavior: black and white boxy graphics when I try to open it. Have to alt+f4 out of it. Firefox is working fine. It is not normal. Please give more info. Excerpt from the Forum Rules, Guidelines, and Policy [5...

Re: SOLVED .Linux Mint version.

@Allan - Looks like in Linux command line you can also just "sudo arch" (for architecture).

Please mark your post as solved (see my signature below).

Cheers!

EDIT: (example below)

Code: Select all

$ sudo arch
x86_64

Re: Linux Mint version.

@Jerry - No problem, just trying to help.
@Allan - If its output is x86_64 then it’s 64-bit OS. If it is i686 or i386, then it’s 32-bit OS.
Cheers!

@wallyUSA,

It's impolite and frowned upon to jump into someone else's post like that.
Just trying give helpful info to OP. I'd also like to know for my own info.

So sorry, guess I should have started my own post.

Open a Terminal, then copy this command and paste it into Terminal:

Code: Select all

inxi -S
It'll show you in the Kernel: section.
Jerry, it shows "x86_64" for 64 bit. What does it show for 32?
