Re: Best route to linux laptop?

I'd start out by doing an online search. This will give many reviews (and opinions). I did a Google search on 'Linux laptops' and found several interesting articles such as: Best Linux laptops of 2020: the top open-source notebooks ... Hello,
.... Basically I just want the Linux Mint 20 and not the old version of Mint or Windows....
Is there anything (like your data) that you might want to back up (from Win or Mint) before you zap it??

Re: Zoom video conferencing scaling problem on TV with newer versions of Zoom

@kcaldwel, I am using Mint 20 and latest Zoom Pro version on Dell laptop. I have used external monitors via HDMi (24' TV and 24" Samsung monitor), both in dual monitor display mode. Have not seen a scaling issue. Not sure how to help but I don't believe it is a Zoom or Mint issue. Maybe look for som...

Re: Successful install of Zoom???

@hi-way-man, If you are still having issues w/install, you may want to get rid of all the stuff left over from the earlier attempt. I am not a CLI person but I have seen refs to sudo apt purge zoom or you have to use sudo apt purge Zoom . After that, follow Damien's advice above. The install is easy...

Hiyall, Will Zoom work on Mint 20 Cinnamon? Peter, I have been using Zoom on Cinnamon 20 since June. It works well for us. I have hosted meetings of up to 20 people and have attended one of up to 80. @skiersxcuse, I have been using Zoom Pro for a few months on my XPS 4393 (6 year old). I have hosted meetings of up to 20 people. Have not noticed any issues and have never checked CPU or Memory load. I will try look at it time. I have also attended meetings with 80 people. This what I use: external...

Re: Does installing Mint void my Dell warranty?

Double check your sys settings and zoom settings. If you have more than one of each of the A/V devices, they may be using the wrong one. I was confused when I start using zoom and external mic, camera and earphones on my Dell. Pix below may give you some ideas. In Zoom: zoom sound 1.jpg On Dell: zoo...

Re: [solved] Screenshots - Shutter in LM20

Note - mint comes with a basic screenshot utility ( PrtScn for the desktop or Alt + PrtScn for the current window) and there are alternatives, e.g. ksnip, which a lot of people recommend. I like the basic screenshot utility (Shift + PrtScn) for the desktop. This let you select what you want, where ...

Re: I have to compress a gigantic video

ffmpeg will do it. Here's an example I used to compress and convert a 20 mb file to 2 mb (from .mov to mp4). Quality was still pretty good. convert .mov to .mp4 ffmpeg -i bird.MOV -vcodec h264 -acodec mp2 bird.mp4 That is a graphical front end if you do not do the CLI. Look for 'MystiQ'. I may be ab...

Re: LibreOffice @ Linux Mint 20: Tabellen mit roten Zahlen

This is difficult to understand (for me). You talk about two laptops, two versions of Mint and two different versions of Writer. Writer versions on Mint 19.3 and Mint 20 are probably diiferent. They also use different versions of Ubuntu. You would think Libre Office would work the same on both but w...
