Re: printing a .jpg

Try this: open in gimp, go to image, go to scale. Here you can change the dimensions and from pixel to cm (or inches).

EDIT: Disregard this suggestion. Try post below from Flemur.

Third option : run Windows as a virtual OS in Linux.
This would be the easiest and most reliable option. However, be aware that you will need a licensed copy of the Windows OS to install as a guest.

Re: cannot log into mint 18.3 in virtualbox

@sarahc:

Is it possible there is a space in your user name? If so, I would avoid embedded space in user name. Just a guess!

Cosmo, Can you give the syntax to use the adduser or tell us how to do it with a gui?

Thanks!

Re: VirtualBox not showing printer.

I am not a cli person, but the syntax I have seen several times has -aG separated by a space so it reads -a -G Just in case there is some question about it working, you might try the -a -G :?: I guess it goes both ways. You can try inxi -Fxz and inxi -F -x -z and you will get the same result. Cool!...

I don't know if this is a common request, but I would like to delete some personal files off of my Win7 pro hard drive and I do not want them recoverable. I would still like the drive and O/S to remain intact though. Can anyone tell me if a file delete done under Mint is totally gone or do I have t...

Re: Chnage DNS Mint 18.3

... If you have a multidevice household and the router settings allow you to do so it is often more straightforward to change the DNS settings on the router rather than on a device by device basis. This sounds like a GOOD ANSWER. Most of us do have a multidevice household (cpu, phone, tablet, TV an...

One more thing: If I backup my home folder, will I keep my user account with it? Also, applications downloaded through apt are kept in /home, right?
Sorry, that's above my pay (technical) grade. Someone else will have to help with that! I've not tried this so I do not know!

@StevenC21: I am new to Linux but from what I have been reading on this forum: Sounds like you need to copy all the stuff (files/folders) in home folder to an external device (probably format ext4). Make sure you have a good copy that you can read before you trash the Cinnamon! Then after you go to ...

i typed this

sudo usermod -aG vboxusers <USERNAME> , with my user name

and the result
bash: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'
Try separating the "-aG"

I used sudo usermod -G vboxsf -a <username>.
