Re: How to delay startup of an application?

I'm not sure. I'd rather not guess at the syntax in this case with the command already needing quotes. I'm sure someone else will be able solve it.

Re: How to delay startup of an application?

Most likely something similar to how I start Conky with a delay. In Menu > Settings > Session and Startup > Application Autostart tab, click on the item then click on Edit. Here's the Command I have for Conky: sh -c "sleep 20 && conky"

Re: sound stopped working

Yes change timeout to 10, and comment out GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hidden or change it to GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=menu

Follow up with sudo update-grub

Re: sound stopped working

I got into grub by pressin <esc> okay I just test the speakers and they work. Yipee. Thanks for the help. Do I need to do anything to get this kernel to load automatically upon reboot? Yes, you need to uninstall the higher numbered kernels you've installed. Or just keep doing the same as you did th...

Re: Everis Laptop sound Card not recognized

This is just crazy! I'm still in the fight as long as you are. I'd like to see the output of cat /proc/asound/cards although with the things we've done thus far, I'm not sure the output will be reliable. In your first post you linked to outputs here that showed the chtnau8824 in your aplay output. I...

Re: sound stopped working

You have a different version than I do and I don't want to make any incorrect guesses, so please post the output of cat /etc/default/grub and I should be able to give you the changes to that file to make the grub menu show on boot up automatically.

Re: blueberry-obex-agent starting in system w/o Bluetooth

Thanks for doing that, kanichiro. The last link in my previous post points to a pretty serious security issue. The full details can be seen in this Youtube video As long as your system isn't near others with Bluetooth devices, there's not much to worry about. But the guy in the video had a neighbor ...

Re: Dual boot now missing

Does this work? In /etc/default/grub change

Code: Select all

GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hidden
to

Code: Select all

GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=menu
Do sudo update-grub after the change.

Re: sound stopped working

Here's a couple of hits from gm10 regarding this: What you do is you boot the machine, hold the Shift key after the BIOS screen to access the GRUB menu (if it doesn't come up press Esc as well and if you miss your timing and the Mint logo appears press Ctrl+Alt+Del to reboot straight to the menu) Ho...

I think you press the Esc or Shift key when the computer logo appears during boot. I'll look into it to make sure.

Re: sound stopped working

I'm sorry bmike1, but I got nothin'.

I can only suggest to try going back to the 4.15.0-50 (or earlier) kernel. It should still be available in the Advanced Options section of the grub menu. I'm really hoping that will get you back to where you were before this started.

Re: Alienware Wireless Headset only playing on MONO

Well, I'm struggling to find a solution. The first thing I'd check is if this is plugged in to a USB3 port, try it in a USB2 port if you have one. Also, give the 4.18 kernel a shot. It may have added support. If those don't help, I'm thinking of trying what's posted here: https://github.com/gnaudio/...

Re: sound stopped working

Well, I'm a little surprised this wasn't mentioned: snd_hda_codec_hdmi hdaudioC2D0: HDMI ATI/AMD: no speaker allocation for ELD When I tried to look up that "error", I got quite a mixed bag of results, mostly pretty old. There was one user that had success just by re-seating the connections at both ...

Re: Pulseaudio-Equalizer-gtk loads once

Glad you got things working, dullahan. Sorry it took such a drastic step to get it resolved. EDIT: I just noticed on my 18.3 install that pulseeffects is only available as a flatpak. I'm wondering if that was causing the issue. It may have used a config directory other than ~/.config/pulse that didn...

Re: Alienware Wireless Headset only playing on MONO

Okay. I'm finding some really old issues with the GN Netcom device where it's being identified as an input device. With the USB dongle plugged in, what's the output when you run xinput in the terminal?

EDIT: Let's also see the output of lsmod | grep usb please.

Re: Alienware Wireless Headset only playing on MONO

Hi robertojf2012.

I'd say the chances are good you can change the Profile to stereo if you install and run PulseAudio Volume Control. Go to the Configuration tab, and see what Profiles are available for the USB device.

Good luck.
