That's great! Now you're not finished yet. So you won't need to unmute them after every reboot, follow the steps in this post: viewtopic.php?f=49&t=330704&p=1890307&h ... t#p1890307

Re: No Sound - Fresh Cinnamon 20.2 install.
Hi Shadowydreamer, and welcome to the forum. Here's the first thing I'd try: amixer set Headphone 100% unmute Run that in the terminal then test your sound. Some systems require the headphones to have volume for the speakers to work. I have no idea which systems are affected this way. If that doesn'...

Re: Linux does not recognize the headset
I'm sorry but I posted a question to you in the wrong thread. Took me some time before I realized this. I never asked this and I should have: Does the headset come with one jack to plug into the computer or two? And does the computer have a single headphone/headset port or two ports for headphone an...

Re: sound too low on external speakers (Mint 20.2)
The only other suggestion I have today is to delete the files in /home/YourUserName/.config/pulse then run pulseaudio -k in the terminal. I doubt it's going to help, but I want to be sure it's not that simple. Either later tonight or tomorrow we can try surgically altering some defaults to see if we...

Re: sound too low on external speakers (Mint 20.2)
Do the external speakers have their own volume control and is it turned up enough? I know this could sound like a no-brainer, but I have to ask.

Re: sound too low on external speakers (Mint 20.2)
According to your output, the speakers were connected to the Line Out port and not the Headphone port. Have you tried the Headphone port instead?

Re: sound too low on external speakers (Mint 20.2)
Most things look pretty good in that output. Here's what I'd try: First, run killall speech-dispatcher in the terminal and see if that fixes it. If still an issue, run alsamixer in the terminal and navigate over to the Channel Mode column. Press the up arrow key to change from 2ch to 4ch or 6ch and ...

Hi greg_129465, and welcome to the forum. Let's get a look at your sound setup with this command: curl https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/raw/master/src/utils/pa-info?inline=false | bash | nc termbin.com 9999 The last line of output will have a URL pointing to the info. Re: No sound on TV through HDMi cable and Display port adapter
No worries, Micik.
One thing I hadn't gotten to yet is the kernel. As you have what looks to be a newer machine, the 5.11 kernel may have helped fixed this.

Re: Linux Mint 20.2 - RitMix WebCam Microphone detected but not recording
You might want to try a newer kernel to see if that resolves the issue. Update Manager > View > Linux kernels I'll say that if the manufacturer didn't follow the USB 2.0 spec properly, which sometimes happens, we could be fighting an uphill battle. And that reminds me, have you tried other USB ports?

Re: Linux Mint 20.2 - RitMix WebCam Microphone detected but not recording
That microphone comes with 2 profiles. It's presently set to Многоканальный вход . Try changing it to Моно вход on the Configuration tab of pavucontrol or you can use this line in the terminal to do it: pacmd set-card-profile alsa_card.usb-Jieli_Technology_USB_PHY_2.0-02 input:mono-fallback See if t...

I wonder if the modesetting video driver is causing this. I would now suggest trying the Intel driver if you haven't already.

Re: No sound on TV through HDMi cable and Display port adapter
Hi Micik, and welcome to the forum.
While ALSA "sees" an HDMI device, it isn't getting recognized properly. PulseAudio isn't seeing it at all. I would suggest checking your BIOS to see if you can toggle the HDMI audio off for one boot, then back on again for the next boot.

Re: Audacity recording volume very feint
I should add that I am trying to record from the internet as I do not own a microphone. Earlier you said you were using a headset mic and spoke "one, two, three, four" into the mic. If you're trying to record from the internet, you want to select "Monitor of..." as your input so...

Re: Linux does not recognize the headset
In Windows I need the Realtek HD Audio Manager program to be able to use the headset. After plugging in the headset, a window appears in which I have to select the headset. Could it be that I need this program in Linux? Linux doesn't have such a program, and the commands above I gave are used to ad...

Re: no sound on toshiba portege m800
The warning message is usually unimportant. Not sure I've seen that one before, but I wouldn't know what to do about it anyway. Usually the supported hardware isn't a huge factor here, as there are generic drivers to deal with that. Whatever is stopping dmesg from showing anything useful is a more l...
