Re: New HP Deskjet 2622 prints too high on page

Thanks for your reply. After doing what you suggested, a new option appeared in my choice of printers: "2622". However, trying to print with that, I get: "Could not start printer. Please check your printer configuration." BUT, I decided to check out the other options. I has been using the default op...

SOLVED New HP Deskjet 2622 prints too high on page

Hi, My new HP Deskjet 2622 prints too high on the page in Linux Mint 19.1 but not in Windows 10. That is, it does not respect the specified upper page margin. I have requested help on the HP support forum but the only suggestion I have had is to update the firmware while in Windows (already the late...

Re: Why can't Linux Mint handle my camera?

No it wasn't the one that came with the camera, just another one at random. But the one that came with the camera works too - thank you for reminding me it existed!

RPD now works, although I'm not sure if I'll use it. I'll just open the folders in the file manager and transfer them.

Thanks again.

Re: Why can't Linux Mint handle my camera?

So I tried on 3 different computers and 4 different operating systems. Nichts, rien, niente, nada! But just before giving up and resigning myself to removing the SD card each time and using a card reader (which works incidentally), I thought I would try yet another USB cable. Bingo! Now my photos ar...

Re: Why can't Linux Mint handle my camera?

Hi phd21, Thanks for your reply. Connecting with a new USB cable directly to the computer makes no difference, except that now the camera reliably appears in the file manager.. Packages you recommended make no difference. Rapid Photo Downloader definitely not rapid! It recognises the device but trie...

Re: Tor-browser launcher problem - verifying signature fails

Thanks for your reply. Hmm... The itsfoss website you point to recommends downloading Tor from the universe repository but the Tor webpage recommends definitely not doing this!: https://2019.www.torproject.org/docs/debian.html.en I'll get back to this using their recommended method at a later time. ...

(SOLVED) Why can't Linux Mint handle my camera?

Hi, I have a Sony Cyber-Shot RX100 camera, a camera that has been around quite a while and is very popular in its various incarnations. I am running Linux Mint 19.1, which is a recent edition and should be able to handle it. But it can't. Why not?! I plug it in via USB, the file manager appears. I c...

SOLVED Tor-browser launcher problem - verifying signature fails

Tor-browser launcher... I open it and it attempts to download and install tor browser, but gets stuck on "Verifying signature". No error message, just sticks and doesn't move forward. I read some advice on an Ubuntu forum to refresh the gpg key. How does one do that correctly in Linux Mint? Thank you.

(SOLVED) Boot loader doesn't load. What do I do?

Hi, Linux Mint 19.1 dual boot with Windows 10. I came back from a few days away and find that when I turn the computer on the boot loader doesn't load, i.e. the system gets stuck before it appears. Can I make any assumptions about whether this is a Mint problem or a Windows problem? What should I do...

Re: Trouble with USB Drive permissions

Do both USB s have the same filesystem on them; what is that filesystem, ext#, fat32, exfat, NTFS? No, USB_drive_1 (the one that works normally) is 'ext4'. USB_drive_2 (the one with the permissions issue) is listed as 'W95 FAT32' on the 'Disks' facility, and as 'vfat' with the 'sudo blkid' command....

Re: Trouble with USB Drive permissions

rhd, run the following command in a terminal sunstituting your username: sudo chown -R -v $USER:$USER /media/myusername/USB_drive_2 That should make a permanent change in ownership of both the drive and all files on it to you. Thanks for your reply, but that did not work. I unmounted the drive and ...

(SOLVED) Trouble with USB Drive permissions

Hello, I was recently having trouble getting my USB drives to mount automatically at start up. I found the solution here: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=263085 . I followed the procedure described to mount my two drives at /media/myusername. I gave them the names "USB_drive_1" and...

Re: SOLVED USB drives not mounting properly all of a sudden

I realised I had had this same problem before, 15 months ago, on 18.3. The work around solution is here: viewtopic.php?f=90&t=263085&p=1424785#p1424785

An unresolved problem with Linux Mint though?

SOLVED USB drives not mounting properly all of a sudden

My 2 USB drives are not mounting properly. Up until yesterday, they were not mounting automatically on start up, but would mount if I unplugged them and plugged them back in. That was a problem because Backintime would look for its snapshot folder on one of these drives and unless I had previously d...
