Re: Linux Mint Cinnamon - RX480 - Unable to start Linux with AMDGPU-pro drivers

I wasn't able to get 17.30 working on 18.2 with my R9 285 either so I switched to Ubuntu 16.04.3 for my workstation where AMDGPU-Pro works perfectly.

Hopefully someone else that's had more success can chime in :)

'out of range' screenmodes running some applications

Hi! I'm having some issues with Mint 18.2 giving me a blank screen/'out of range' problem when running a few different games/applications. Specifically ScummVM when using the fullscreen mode, Vice and Chocolate Doom (also when made fullscreen) and lastly, even when changing the desktop resolution an...

Re: Weird Windows partition/Bitlocker problem

Hmm - for now I'll have to run that partition unencrypted. Here's the output of sudo update-grub btw (not very helpful!): sudo update-grub [sudo] password for andrew: Generating grub configuration file ... error: cannot read `/dev/sda': Input/output error. error: cannot read `/dev/sda': Input/output...

Re: Weird Windows partition/Bitlocker problem

Is there perhaps a way to get Mint to completely ignore the problem partition?

See the screengrab of Gparted - "input/output error during read on /dev/sda"

I get the same error hundreds of times when updating grub or the kernal :(

Re: Weird Windows partition/Bitlocker problem

Hiya! Yes, that entry is for sda3 - I think it got added when I used the Disks utility to hide/not mount the unencrypted version of that drive. I tried commenting that line out but it didn't make any difference - if Bitlocker's turned on for that drive I get the read/write errors seen above.

Re: Weird Windows partition/Bitlocker problem

Hello there! I can't post any output right now since the SSD I'm setting up for this PC has been removed whilst I backup and transition some of my Windows software across (lots of applications that need to be unregistered on the old install and re-registered on the new one). I've run blkid a few tim...

Weird Windows partition/Bitlocker problem

Hi there! I've been gradually migrating my computers away from Windows to Mint and enjoying hitting minor roadblocks and troubleshooting them along the way but this is the first issue I've encountered that I seem unable to resolve :) I have a dual boot Win 8.1/Mint 18.2 computer with two Windows par...
