I tested the monitor on another computer, with the same result. I replaced the monitor. with one with the same 1020- x 1200 resolution, all works.
The monitor with the problem was quite old and I bought it second-hand about 5 years ago.

Does anyone have a clue?

I replaced the cables, and bought a new monitor. The new monitor so far displays 1920 x 1200 BUT Linux still identifies the monitor as an Integrated Express 27". The monitor is a Dell. Linux display originally identified the monitor I replaced correctly. This seems to be Linux problem, not anyt...

Also the Display app misidentifies my monitor. It's a Dell Ultrasharp 22", but Display thinks it is an integrated Tech Express 27". Maybe that's the key. But the entire screen is displayed on the monitor, just at a weird resolution.

Also, 5.15 is supported until February 2023 while 5.4 is supported until 2025. 5.8 is supported to "end of life" though I'm not sure what that means.

First, I can easily see the difference on my screen. Second, when I press the monitor menu, it tells me that the resolution is 1600 x 1200. Again, I have used this monitor and Linux Mint for many years, and this is the first time the resolution is screwed up.

Also, according to Update Manager, I am currently on kernel 5.4.0-121-generic, seems to be later than 5.15*

Mintupgrade to Mint 19 stopped at the microsoft ttf fonts installer. I hit the OK but to no avail. It's 64-bit. Is it safe to reboot? Or is there way to restart the process?
I did not see a notification to delete the fonts installer earlier in the process.
