Re: Grub Rescue when installing LMDE 3

hmmm. just weird that i ran across this at boot on my wife's at the same time you had it too.... so did you get it installed? if you did - then do sudo apt-get update and then sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. it fixed mine for whatever reason. in 15 years i never saw that error before.

Re: Power Management not working

hmmm. i did not catch that when i ran lmde3. maybe i am glad i went to debian 9.8. no issues so far at all. i still am hopeful that mint can have a really nice stable lmde version. i am most hopeful. this is my preferred mint at this time.

Re: The pros of XFCE DE?

i tried it a couple of times and the one time it did not seem much faster - but that was on my wife's old - now dead thinkpad r series. so that may have been it. I also do not like the look sor feel of it and seems rather limiting. just me - i do use and found it ok lxde. running debian 9.8 on an ol...

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition 3 Cindy

main problem i have wth it is the trackpad- way overly sensitive and a bit too crazy for use. otherwise it seems ok and the control of the trackpad seems rather limited. with debian ggnome even on an old macbook with minmal ram it still is a bit more tweakable than lmde or deb lxde whixh is really w...

Re: I'm out of patience.

unless you have some off the wall one you should be able to run mint with minimal issues. it is one of the easiest to run. what exactly are your issues? even as a total neophyte you should install and tweak what you need and ecxplore the settings and apps and go for it. started with mx-dos - a night...
