I'm also using 18.2 & that's exactly my concern too.

Compared to windows, I'd like to have at least Inscript keyboard, since something like google input tools is a far fetched thought for now.

Since It did work until reboot, if it were XFCE I would say to save the session. start>settings>session and start up>session tab>click save session box. I have never used MATE. Does it have something similar? Saving the session would key it to start the bluetooth as it was saved, on reboot. But if ...
