Re: Disk Usage Analyzer can't analyze disk

The lost+found folder is supposed to be in your OS HDD.
If you want to edit permissions on a folder that belongs to root, you have to open the parent folder as root.

Re: Changing CPU to a newer model.

Just bumping this thread to share this with you guys : I think my CPU or Mobo just had a failure (my Mobo had more and more problems passing memcheck on startup then stopped booting), borrowed the PC from my wife and basically only switched HDs, Linux just worked flawlessly. Now this is amazing beca...

Re: Software manager very outdated privacy and functionality concern

Wine is crap even if you're using the latest version. Most apps don't work using it. If they do they often don't run very well. If you want WIndows apps, run Windows in a VM in Linux or dual boot. There's NO other reliable way. WineHQ has been really useful to me though and to a whole bunch of musi...

Re: Mint 18.2 Software Manager Starts then Stops

I did the test and Software Manager didn't even launch.
I wonder if the issue is similar because I'm not running the same system as the originator of the topic.
Anyway, if it doesn't help anybody, I'll just shut my trap :)

Re: Mint 18.2 Software Manager Starts then Stops

I have a similar issue with software manager : when I launch it from the menu, it launches then shuts down immediately. I have to launch it a second time and then it is stable, it happens every time.

Re: Changing CPU to a newer model.

Hi Jim, I've been reading all day about my MoBo and this CPU combination and things don't turn out too good. There is no heatsink on the VRM and since it uses a 4+1 phase, there have been numerous reports that the CPU gets throttled even at its factory settings. I think I have been a little to carri...

Re: Changing CPU to a newer model.

Hi Jim, thanks a lot for the reply. Did you have the bundled version with the Wraith Cooler ? I wonder how does this cooler perform, I've got an Artic Freezer 7 pro at the moment, I might as well keep it ? Anyway, most of the time my case is open ! When you say backup, what are you thinkin...

Re: boot-repair

Tried grub repair once it somewhat messed up the grub. It was ok because I could boot again but it did not boot directly after post instead I had to choose from several option (ubuntu EFI, and two different kernels of Linux mint). I reinstalled Linux.

Re: Steam and Nvidia driver problems

Hi I have a GTX 560Ti and had a similar screen resolution issue with recent driver versions. Saw somewhere that those graphic cards worked well with 340.24 nvidia driver and it did.You might as well give it a try. Also go on the Steam forum, Linux section and do a research on library problem. It's a...

Changing CPU to a newer model.

Hi a quick question about changing my CPU. Yesterday I flashed my BIOS with the idea of upgrading my CPU but that didn't turn out very well : I couldn't boot to my Linux Mint 18.1 XCFE install at all so I had to reinstall the OS (fortunately I had some scripts and it did not take too long but all th...
