Re: Mint Studio?

This person just got his running in Mint 10, haven't read the instructions myself, but . . good luck. http://tuxaudio.blogspot.com/2010/11/low-latency-kernel-for-ubuntu-maverick.html ps: did you know that Mint 9 Xfce doesn't have Pulse Audio, and 10 Xfce won't either . . Thank you! I will try this ...

Re: Mint Studio?

Rather than install the entire Ubuntu Studio metapackage, why not just install the applications you need ? I appreciate the thought, but I do need most of them, and installing the metapackage saves me time :) The bigger issue is installing the -rt kernel. I need to figure out how to do this, if any...

Mint Studio?

How can I install the required A/V software for my small studio? I've tried repeatedly to get a realtime kernel installed, but no dice. Ubuntu Studio is/ has been a nightmare to setup, and I'd really rather use Mint than my current Windows setup, if, for no other reason, to simply tap into some seri...

How do I install a working -rt kernel?

Every time I try it's a no-go; the splash screen refuses to load and "startx" results in partial load, then lockup.

Re: Can't print from a web browser

Networked printer printed after a 30 minute hold time. Trying to repeat.

Says printer is not connected, but only on web-based print jobs. wired internet connection is rock-solid

Can't print from a web browser

I can print fine from everywhere else (GIMP, F-Spot, oOo, etc.), but prints from Firefox, Opera, etc. take 10 minutes to clear to a local printer, and won't clear a networked one.

Local printer is HP Deskjet D1560, Networked printer is Toshiba e-Studio 3530c.

Mint is updated Isadora x86.

Simple MintMenu Icon

From freedom came elegance. From fiddling came simplicity.

Internet Radio Problem

Can't get ESPN internet player to play. Visual content loads, audio content does not. Worked fine in Gnome x86_64.

Link: http://espn.go.com/espnradio/player

It is a "streamtheworld" station.

Re: Why DVD?

One thing I think could be trimmed are the amount of redundant packages. For instance, do we really need Thunderbird and lightning installed by default when we have Kontact, or MPlayer when there's Dragon player, or VLC when its functionality is covered by Amarok, MPlayer, Dragon Player and probably...

Funnily enough I gave up Quickverse for Xiphos. For my purposes Xiphos is the superior product- regardless of [substantial] price difference.

Re: Helena KDE CE update

The guys from PCLinuxOS are working on 2010 release !! Kernel 2.6.32 is in testing and will the default Kernel hopefully :) So we will have Mint CE and PCLinuxOS available this week and everybody can check those distros (all live CD) and decide himself which one is "the best" 8) http://id...

Re: Helena KDE CE update

If a newbie friend of yours wanted to try linux and mint was not available, what would you give him (must be kde, and something he can then stay with for a good while)? RJ I would recommend PCLinuxOS. Its based on mandrake, and it comes with kde as default desktop. Its a rolling release which means...
