Re: Qbittorrent Window Displays Mint 19.1 Desktop, Not "Itself"

There have been several recent updates via the update manager for Qbittorrent. None have solved the issues that I have with it. I installed via the PPA. My main problem is a crash when I try to update plugins. I can live with the graphical problem.

You are not alone but this isn't permanent for me and it rectifies itself eventually.

Re: [SOLVED] Help with constructing Linux command

I've been experimenting with these commands and this one rm -v -r ~/Downloads/*.exe *.jpg *.nfo *.txt *.torrent only removes .torrent files, I suspect this is because they are the only files visible in the directory /Downloads/. It does not look inside folders in that directory, so it does not catch...

Updating Qbittorrent plugins crashing application

Trying to update Qbittorrent plugins on latest Mint version with everything up-to-date caused the app' to crash, it closes. If I do the same on an up-to-date version of Mint in an older build it is stable, no crash. Everything installed appears the same. Different Thinkpad versions though. the stabl...

Re: Help with constructing Linux command

How about this: rm -v -r ~/Downloads/*.exe *.jpg *.nfo *.txt *.torrent No need to create a file or make anything executable or something; just one simple command to execute. You can use the memory of the terminal (tap the "up" arrow key on your keyboard) for repeating it at future occasions. Oh, an...

The current drive is very elderly, so probably MBR, but I'm at home so I can't check.
Being lazy I use a hardware solution. An external dock with cloning ability.

Re: Anyone running Mint on a Lenovo ThinkPad T480s?

I use an ex corporate T430 with 12 GB of RAM and I love it. The Intel NIC was not installed by Windows 7 but was by Mint, and I had quite a time finding my own driver for it. I would definitely go for used, in all of the things you are thinking of, especially the RAM. It has replaced my dated deskto...

Re: 3Tb GoFlexHome on USB

I had the same problem with a 3TB drive. I had to format it in Windows to get it recognised. It was a while ago and my first experience of this problem but I formatted the drive into GPT I think rather than MBR. That solved it. Took me ages too, almost sent it back. I had no experience of drives lar...

Re: Liquorix Kernel

So if I have installed it and deleted the default Mint kernel(s) then how do I install a recommended Mint kernel to save my bacon? You can always install the latest LTS kernel by running: apt install linux-generic To boot from it you may have to choose it manually in your GRUB boot menu depending o...

Don't install unsupported kernels for no good reason. Or do it just for fun, but expect major breakage. Sooner or later.

Re: Bluetooth on Thinkpad

I have a Thinkpad T430 and the bluetooth works. It cannot see my Thinkpad X61 but can pair with my phone, my phone can see the X61 but cannot pair with it without a code, 0000 and 1234 do not work. Strange. On the T430 you do not get an indicator on the dash though but on the X61 you get an indicato...

A difference I have noticed is that it seems to take quite a bit longer to install things. Which is a bit of a pain in the ass.
