Re: Minecraft mods
I am suggesting to use MultiMC (https://multimc.org/): manages multiple instances of Minecraft, can install Forge, etc.

Re: inxi suggestion
How about "Copy for Forum use" and "Copy for Hexchat/IRC use"? The first button could already add the code tags for the forum

I would like to have an option to forward it to a paste bin site. I already see people using "minxi" to paste into the IRC channels directly, and then people get angry at poor mintbot for time outs and we want to avoid this  inxi -Fxz -c 0 | nc termbin.com 9999 Thanks, we are usi...

Re: New Mint dev team member: gm10!
Oh goodness, didn't expect him to frontpage that. Before you start raining in more requests, all that changed is that I have access to another chat channel. Everything else is the same. I'm still not making the decisions, nor do those donations mentioned in the blog reach me. So let's just forget a...

Re: Software for repository
Are you willing to maintain the software then in the repository for the next years (it is not only uploading software, but for example maintaining the dependencies!)? This is actually always a major concern when adding software to any repository. If you want an easier way of installing, you can alwa...

Re: What sends noobs running back to Windows?
I think that in the end it is games and gaming that ruins the linux experience for many. Mint is a complete, functional, easy to install, run, and use operating system, comes with everything someone needs (or in many cases wants), and is stable as all get out. But gaming is still a MS fiefdom. Linu...

Re: Well I give up
Everybody is constantly installing, reinstalling, formatting, etc. All you ever hear about is people distro hopping and trying out this or that. Well, no one is going to post just to say 'Still on the same system as last month. All going well. Nothing to report.' Still on the same system as last mo...

Re: Linux Kernel releases?
Following usual release cycles, come 2020 we'll be at a 5.x kernel series. The current release is 4.19, so your 3.x is way behind. The 3.16 is a LTS kernel ( see here ). "way behind" is just for those who hunt version numbers. So since 3.x era of the versioning scheme when do you think th...

Re: Suggestion: Add minimal install option
From a support point of view: Extra options during install cause more questions, esp. for people who do not know exactly what they are doing. An option "Minimal install" will be attractive to click on simply because it suggests not doing "too much" and gives a "let's start s...

Re: Steam now lets you play Windows games on Linux
I just hope they a) get the statistics right for the game developers (e.g. not counting SteamPlay as Windows download/user) and b) they allow to filter SteamPlay along Linux/Windows/Mac in future (i.e. not counting SteamPlay as "Linux version"). Personally, it is nice that I can play some ...

Re: What sends noobs running back to Windows?
I wished people would stop using old people as an indicator for easiness. Old people are neither stupid nor unwilling to learn/adapt in general. It is a personal mindset. Maybe, I should start telling about all the 20-25y-old students here who seem stupid and unwilling to learn. At a University. In ...

Re: What sends noobs running back to Windows?
I agree that expectations ("Oh, a free-beer Windows with a lot of free-beer software which runs super duper fast!!!!111") and the unwillingness to sacrifice some things ("Oh, I can't play all my games anymore with 200 FPS?????????") (in exchange for getting a lot of other advanta...

Re: Posting warning on "Preview Sound Files" parameter
This sounds like a bug to me. Can you provide more information about your system (version of Linux Mint, which desktop you use, etc). Please go to a terminal and type the following command and post the output here:
Which file manager do you use?
Code: Select all
