Re: Buggy Network Manager?

Does this happen out of the blue or after a resume? When this happens, try to reload the driver: sudo modprobe -r iwlwifi; sudo modprobe iwlwifi If that does not help, try restarting the network manager service: sudo systemctl restart network-manager.service You could/should also try a newer kernel...

Re: Buggy Network Manager?

Sometimes the Network Manager icon That's not the network manager icon, that's Cinamon's own network applet which overrides Network Manager's applet. I know nothing about that applet so I cannot help you with the issue, but at least you know where to look now. PS: Although you can disable Cinnamon'...

Re: Buggy Network Manager?

I raise this thread because the issue finally happened again, this time I made a screenshot of the Network app window. Like I said, the Wireless option also disappears from there:

Re: Buggy Network Manager?

Try this: https://easylinuxtipsproject.blogspot.com/p/internet-problems.html#ID2.1 (item 2.1) Just did this, now iwconfig shows that Power management is off. Hopefully that solves the issue (and improves internet connection overall, would be nice!), but will report back in this thread in case it do...

Buggy Network Manager?

Sometimes the Network Manager icon tray acts wonky and stops showing any wireless devices, the toggle option to (dis)able wifi, and even the option to "Rescan for wireless networks", like this: https://i.imgur.com/hv0zFdC.png This happens at the same time that I lose internet connection, although mo...

Re: Disabling Firefox's titlebar

Flamewart,I think another theme in Firefox preferences would be the most likely possibility of finding certain close buttons that fit your specific needs. I have no title bar as well in Firefox, but I dont have problems with easily reaching the close button myself. No I dont think that choice of ke...

Re: Disabling Firefox's titlebar

Using LM 19.1 Cinnamon, Kernel 5.0.0-20 Any way to fix this issue? If you are genuinly using this kernel you havent done any upgrade since you installed LinuxMint? Is that correct? We are at kernel 54 right now, you have kernel 20. When I installed LM 19.1 it came with Kernel 4.15, but I intentiona...

Re: Disabling Firefox's titlebar

I use mate and just tested this and see no problem here so I can't help much with that part of it. If you hit your alt key it toggles the menu so try that before you aim for your close button or you can hit Ctrl-Q to close, alt-space-n to minimize, alt-space-x to maximize. Edit: 19.2 is due very so...

Disabling Firefox's titlebar

Not sure if this should be posted here on in Themes subforum. So Firefox gives the option to remove the titlebar permanently, so it leaves some extra space on the top and looks less cluttered (nowadays I think most browsers have this design by default). I find that when this option is enabled, the t...

Tap to click on touchpad randomly stops working

I have enabled Tap to click in touchpad options and it usually works fine. But often it just stops working. The touchpad still responds to movement and physically clicking on its buttons work, but tapping it doesn't do anything. I find that just doing a random action like opening the LM menu and lau...

Try running this in a terminal and if your chosen mouse pointer is on the list, select its number:

sudo update-alternatives --config x-cursor-theme
Capitaine pointer doesn't show up on that list, just DMZ ones. What should I do in this case?

Thanks!

Mouse pointer changes between apps

I am using Capitaine r3 cursor, but the issue still happens when using the default DMZ cursor. It happens when hovering the mouse over some apps, regardless of whether they are selected (in front) or not (in the back). Affected apps I noticed: Spotify, Steam, PIA. Noticeable difference: both Steam a...

Issues with identity check in boot medium

Greetings, trying to install LM 19.1 Cinnamon. Downloaded the iso from torrent and checksum is fine. When booting from USB and checking the integrity of the medium it says there's one error. This has happened several times already everytime I get it on my USB stick (using Etcher, UNetbootin, etc.). ...

Re: Unable to access userfolder from a LiveUSB

Works for me too! Now when I access /tmp with the terminal I can see the directory, but when I access it all I can get is the same two files I saw when I tried to access the userfolder at /home: OK, found the correct command to access your data: sudo ecryptfs-recover-private /media/mint/5720e86b-dd...

Re: Unable to access userfolder from a LiveUSB

Thanks! that works but it says it couldn't find the wrapped passphrase file, and asks for the original mount passphrase, which I have no idea where might be. At this stage enter your login password, the one you were using to open your LM session. Just tried from a live session, it works. sudo ecryp...

Re: Unable to access userfolder from a LiveUSB

Use ecryptfs command ecryptfs-recover-private: sudo ecryptfs-recover-private /media/mint/5720e86b-ddf5-47d3-9868-2f183f4739a6/home/flamewart See man page for more details: man ecryptfs-recover-private That is the signature of an encrypted home folder. The actual data is in a hidden folder nearby, s...
