Firefox crashed after updating

I cannot run Firefox since I updated my system last time. When running firefox on terminal, this message appears: /opt/firefox/firefox-bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0/modules/libfile.so: undefined symbol: gnome_vfs_unescape_string I'm using LMDE 64bit edition. Thank you for your att...

Re: grub brakes after every upgrade

I experienced the same problem too. My grub had the same problem 3 times after 3 different upgrades. I thought it would be fixed with the new LMDE update manager, but I had to reinstall grub from a live CD just this morning. The process is quite simple but it's annoying to do it every 2 months... I ...

HP Deskjet 1220c doesn't work in Mint 9

I have owned a HP Deskjet 1220c printer for the last 7 years. I used it in Mint 5 KDE some years and always worked flawlessly. Now I installed Mint 9 KDE and it doesn't work. First I thought it was a driver problem, so I tried with hpijs 3.10.2 (from repositories), hpijs 3.10.9 (from hplip sourcefor...

Re: My mouse is acting weird.

Not only my mouse... All my peripherals that are connected to an USB port act weird, that is: a HP deskjet 1220c printer, a labtec mouse, a EPSON perfection 2400 scanner. I tested them all on my laptop, which is waaaaay older and runs (smoothly!!!) with Mint 8 Xfce, and everything works. Can you hel...

My mouse is acting weird.

I have Mint KDE 9 since few days ago. Since then, my mouse performs some weird movements. The most annoying is that the pointer eventually moves to the top left corner. It usually happens when I have my mouse stopped about 10 seconds or so. Does anyone know why it happens?

Re: Fortunes and ASCII cows

It was installed with no problem. Fortune is fully functional if I call it from terminal. So is mint-fortune. The only thing I can't do is setting a fortune every time I open the terminal by default.

Re: Fortunes and ASCII cows

Thank you very much for your reply, but there is no line in /etc/bash.bashrc for '/usr/bin/mint-fortune' ; was it removed in last versions or something?

Fortunes and ASCII cows

I use Mint KDE 9, just changed from Mint 5 few days ago. In Mint 5 there was a Mint Config tool for putting or removing Fortunes in terminal. In later versions there wasn't, but Fortunes were enabled by default, and as far as I can see in other posts, it was a matter of editing /etc/bash.bashrc comm...

My DVD drive cannot read original DVD that used to

Hi, My problem is with original DVDs. Last time I tried to watch an original DVD in my computer -using Kaffeine 0.8.6- was just last week, and it worked ok. Now, when I insert the same DVD, it just doesn't detect. I mean, when I insert the DVD, the default mountpoint /media/cdrom0 is empty, and /dev...
