Re: Scrolling issues on Firefox and Chrome

Try if it helps when you install the level 3 and 4 updates you've avoided. I applied those updates, but I'm still facing issues... Here's one other thing- I faced somewhat similar issue when I tried Xubuntu. There, I changed some settings on "Window manager tweaks" - disabled the display compositin...

Re: Scrolling issues on Firefox and Chrome

I'm always comfortable using an LTS kernel like 4.4.0-xx series, and the first time I installed Mint 18.2 and used it for a couple of months, I used 4.4.0-89, as far as I can remember. The strangest things is I don't remember facing this scrolling issue then. The only difference now is that: 1. I'm ...

Re: Scrolling issues on Firefox and Chrome

Thanks Pjotr for your advice... Updating the kernel and changing to modesetting may have made things a bit better, but I'm still getting some jerkiness and tremblings... Scrolling issues on Firefox and Chrome

I'm facing some scrolling issues on my Linux Mint 18.2 Cinnamon, while browsing with Firefox and Chrome... The thing is I had to do a clean re-installation of my Mint, I don't really remember facing similar type of issue before. Firefox seems to be worse, scrolling is jerky, somewhat wavy; it stutte...

Thanks phd21 for the link... Unfortunately, even though I'm connected to the internet, my network manager shows that I have "no connection". Re: Can't access certain websites

Hi "Apollonius", You can try changing your local ISP connection's DNS server IP addresses to safe secure ones from a DNS provider to see if that makes a difference, you should restart you computer afterwards. openDNS - instructions on changing DNS server IP addresses. https://forums.linuxmint.com/p...

Re: Can't access certain websites

You might check on both which DNS server they query. You might add 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to the DNS server list. You might check whether the commands nslookup linuxmint.com and nslookup linuxmint.com 8.8.8.8 return different IP addresses. - They should not. If they do, your primary DNS returns false ...

Can't access certain websites

I installed Mint about a month ago... since then I think, I can't access the following websites: 1. linuxmint.com 2. distrowatch.com 3. community.linuxmint.com I have tried so many times! :( It could've been because of my Internet speed, but it's obviously not- I can access a lot of heavier websites...

Re: Security update for another kernel series

Correct, 4.8.x is no longer supported, and 4.10.x is its successor, which currently is supported for now. Or another option would be to use the latest 4.4.x branch, which offers Long Term Support (LTS), so you won't have to concern yourself with this every nine months (vs. five years for LTS). Joe ...

Thanks for clearing everything up! :)

I'm currently not having any issues; just fell in doubt about whether my graphics card is being used or not after seeing there's no option in VLC player!
