Re: Linux .iso boot failure

Mint's behaviour with regards to updates is fully up to you. You can make it look for updates when you want it to, or even never at all (not recommended, but possible). But what do you mean when you say you need a light system 'for XP '? My xp system info: Dell Dimension 3000 240 Ghz 256k cache int...

Re: Linux .iso boot failure

I run mint at my home pc alongside win 10. I like mint. But, its probably too much for win xp and dialup. That depends fully on the specs of the computer, and dialup has nothing to do with operating systems. I tried windows 10 with dialup. I could not a get a page to load. Apparently you can't turn...

Re: Linux .iso boot failure

With an old XP computer, you would have better chances of success with Mint Mate or xfce. Cinnamon or KDE might be too much for that machine. Which version of Mint are you using? 17? 18? or? Can you post some specs on that computer? I plan on using this computer at a remote cabin (only dialup) What...

Re: Linux .iso boot failure

I tried mint mate 18.1. I also tried puppy because because of the machine being old, low ram and I plan to use the system with dial up in remote location with no high speed. The 32 bit iso of puppy will boot on a window 10 system. Same disk will not boot on the XP machine.. . The booting problem is...

In the Windows XP machine from 2004, you can read other DVDs? - I wonder a bit whether the old machine has got a DVD drive or just a CD drive.

Re: Linux .iso boot failure

You can try a "frugal install" where you use Unetbootin to boot the .iso file while it is still on your hard drive. Frugal install: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=164372&p=847222#p847222 http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=122187 Thanks, will try this if I can't get t...

Re: solved directtvnow compatibility with linux?

Yes, that's the extension I used. I used mintbeans instructions. I also deleted all other previously created user groups and user agents that were listed in the menu. For some reason there were user groups listed for firefox, internet explorer, and google chrome. I left google chrome and created a n...
