Re: Looking to replace VirtualBox with KVM, but it doesn't seem to support half the features?

Hi, There are at least 3 virtual machines to use under Linux Mint: - Qemu / KVM, OpenSource, is not very friendly to set-up and use; moreover, it is probably the slowest one of the three . Do you have sources which benchmarked KVM / QEMU and come to your conclusion? Hi, No benchmark, I have used th...

Re: Linux Mint 19.3 - Nemo Won't Mount Devices (HD) Defined in FSTAB

I did exactly as you wrote. Created a directory in media using sudo mkdir D.
I edited the fstab file with your line (With my UUID) and it didn't work.

Could it be something is different on MATE?

I am not saying it can't be done. I am asking what is missing on my configuration to make it work.

Re: Linux Mint 19.3 - Nemo Won't Mount Devices (HD) Defined in FSTAB

First, thank you for the assistance. It doesn't make sense to me to attach it to my HOME folder as I want it to work for any user. Also, isn't fstab all users wide config or is it only for the specific user? I thought everything on \etc is all users wide. Any how, you say this will work: UUID=5A8469...

Re: Linux Mint 19.3 - Nemo Won't Mount Devices (HD) Defined in FSTAB

I did what you wrote above (Namely making folder inside media). It won't work as well. Regarding the fstab configuration, as you can see above, I used user as well. Could it be that you pointed to /media/<userName>/D ? Because Nemo by default will mount to /media/<userName>/<deviceUUID> .

Do Flatpak Applications Have SUDO Privileges (Dolphin Case)? [Linux Mint 19.3]

Hello, I have this strange case regarding mounting which seems to suggest Flatpak Applications have sudo privileges. It is all started with Nemo Won't Mount Devices (HD) Defined in FSTAB [Linux Mint 19.3] . Once I defined that certain device (By UUID) will be mounted to certain mounting point Nemo s...

Re: Linux Mint 19.3 - Nemo Won't Mount Devices (HD) Defined in FSTAB

For me, Even if I set the mounting point in fstab to be in /tmp/F it didn't work. I applied sudo chmod a+rw /tmp/F/ . I'd be happy if you showed me how to were able to do it exactly. I prefer without using Disks. By the way, what does Disks do differently? I thought it uses fstab as well. Is there a...

Re: Changing nemo's mount options to include acl for NTFS disks

So there is no way to change the default mounting properties of Nemo?

For example making it mount NTFS with Read Only permission by default?

Linux Mint 19.3 - Nemo Won't Mount Devices (HD) Defined in FSTAB

I have in my computer few HD which are NTFS. I want them to be mounted by default as Read Only. Hence I edited fstab with the following line: UUID=5A8469DC8469BAE1 /mnt/D/ auto defaults, noauto, user,ro 0 0 I created the folder D under mnt (So /mnt/D/ is defined). Now, When I click on that device (Thi...

Re: Mint 19.3: Set The Root Password "Nag Screen"

Am I protected? Or could someone bypass the encryption without my password? Your home folder is protected, yes. Even if someone changes your user password (easily done), that does NOT give them access to your encrypted home folder. BTW, while it's easy to change the user password, it's not easy to ...

Re: Mint 19.3: Set The Root Password "Nag Screen"

As far as I understand my user home folder is encrypted and even someone with physical access to my computer can not access the data. Am I wrong thinking this? Access to your user data is not what this is primarily about; just "access to your computer", period. But as to the first part of...

Re: Mint 19.3: Set The Root Password "Nag Screen"

Just click I understand ....all it does is dismisses the nag screen for good. When you installed mint you recreated your normal user with a password. All linux systems also have the user root and by default in Mint that account is set with no password out of the box. So some people think this creat...

Flatpak Version in Linux Mint 19.1 Repositories

Hi,

How come the Flatpak version in Linux Mint 19.1 is 1.0.8 while in Linux Mint 18.3 we have the latest (If I remember - 1.4.x)?

Could anyone fix that?

Re: newb here hello to all. Adjusting the scroll function on mint

I have the same problem with Linux Mint 19.1.

In the posts on AskUbuntu they have v8.0 of the transceiver driver while for some reason in Linux Mint 19.1 I have v7.0.
They seem to have different properties.

If you found a way to solve it, please share.
