Re: Mint 20 Cinnamon - AMD RX5700 Display Problem

A Windows 10 installation USB had exactly the same problems. Sapphire have now issued a RMA and the card is on its way back to Amazon. They were out of stock and gave me back my money. When I started looking for a replacement I was surprised to see that many of the breathed on versions had much high...

Re: Mint 20 Cinnamon - AMD RX5700 Display Problem

Thanks for the feedback and the time you have spent helping me. Before the last round of tests, I did a clean Mint 20 install and checked there are no AMD drivers loaded with dmsg. All items in your points were set as required. I have only been using one screen. The cpu does not have graphics onboar...

Mint 20 Cinnamon - AMD RX5700 Display Problem

I have a Ryzen 7 PC with an AMD RX5700 on an Asus ROG Strix B450-F motherboard. I built it in August 2019 with LM 19.3. I installed AMD drivers and it worked well driving two HD monitors vis Displayport. I recently updated to LM 20 Cinnamon with a fresh install. All went well until I removed the Ins...

Packages required for PlayStation4 Clone <Solved>

I bought a Snakebyte Gamepad 4S Wireless (PlayStation 4 Gamepad/Controller clone) to use with Linux Mint 19.1 on my PC. When I contacted Snakebyte I was told that Linux is not and never will be supported. However, it can be made to work with a little patience. I installed the following. I first trie...

PXE: E61 failure with Linux Mint 19 but not Ubuntu

I have a Toshiba Satellite that is dedicated to Linux Mint. It is set up using LVM. The boot partition is sda1. It suffered from disk corruption, which I fixed with fsck. The boot partition sda1 appears to be mangled, and my attempts to fix it with Rescuetux and SuperGrub2 Disk have not succeeded. I...

Lazarus/fpc version updates

The version of Lazarus/fpc offered by the Software Centre is 1.6. The current version is 1.8.4. Would it be possible to to fetch the three packages eg: fpc_3.0.4-3_amd64.deb fpc-src_3.0.4-3_amd64.deb lazarus-project_1.8.4-0_amd64.deb from http://sourceforge.net/projects/lazarus/files/ which is alway...

Re: How to add new language highlighting to XED?

Thanks xenopeek. You found the correct link. Gcode is a set of instructions for operating CNC machines. I use it to drive a small engraving machine. I found the answer to my specific problem. The original file only recognises .gc but not .ngc which is also commonly used. I added that in and changed ...

Re: How to search forum for XED?

Thanks xenopeek. That is a useful tip.

However, I was using the Search... box at top right of the forum page. It looks like all Linux Mint components should have at least four characters.

How to search forum for XED?

XED is shorter than the four letter requirement for the forum search engine.

Is there a trick that allows a search for three letter names?

How to add new language highlighting to XED?

I have found the pascal.lang etc files under user/share/gtksourceview-3.0/language-specs. I have also located a GPL html file by Fernand Veilleux <fernveilleux@gmail.com> that was built for gedit and gnome in general. See https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/GtkSourceView When I open a gcode file it is r...

Thanks for the tip. Re-installing gnome-keyring worked on two PCs,but this was the only way that worked on a third PC.

Re: pam_ck_connector cannot determine display-device

Problem is fixed. I tried two things without rebooting in between, so not sure which one worked. 1) From terminal: "sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm" Nothing appeared to happen, so not sure if it did anything. 2) After entering "startx" and entering GUI, ran Administration| LightDM GTK+ Greeter setting...

Re: pam_ck_connector cannot determine display-device

During my initial attmpts to get things working I loaded an Xorg intel 915 video driver. When I read the associated information carefully, it was suggested that PCs since 2007 should rely on nomodeset in the boot config. I deleted the old driver and the message above disappeared. I still do not have...

[Solved] pam_ck_connector cannot determine display-device

I run Linux Mint 18.2 Cinnamon 64 bit. Something went wrong a few days ago when I updated using the Update Manager. I updated applications and then deleted and added some kernel updates in a single operation. (Not wise!) At boot the PC stopped with a flashing cursor. <Alt>+<F2> started the terminal....
