you shouldn't mess with maths
8 bit = 1 byte
you can't neglect that fact
if you say 1mb = 1000 bytes, it's just wrong

Calculating sizes
I just read this article about the new Ubuntu that will calculate sizes of files, disks etc. in an other way http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2010/03/ubuntu-1004-reads-file-sizes.html#comment-40184635 Is this something that will be kept in the next Mint releases? There is a big controversy about it. It mi...

Re: Mint and Windows 7
3 scenarios: 1 you want to install Mint on the same disk as W7: you probably won't have a problem 2 you have W7 installed on your primary disk and wan't to install Mint on a secondary partition: you could have a problem, but things probably will work smoothly 3 you have W7 on your secondary disk and...

Re: Mint Install Eclipse
the one in the repositories is just a lite version with only java developing stuff if I'm right
if you want extra stuff you have to download the full version form the eclipse website
it doens't apear in your menu because you have to create a launcher yourself (how to do that)

Re: Advice asking.
if you boot a live cd you will find very good partitioning software in the System-Administartion menu (gParted
if you don't do it at the life boot you can still do it when installing (at the stage where it asks where you want to install Mint)

Mint & VB.NET
in school I have to learn .net (especially vb.net)
now I like to work as much as possible in Mint, but for these .net lessons I always boot in XP
is there any way to develop .net in Mint as easy as in XP?

Re: newbie here!
the reason that you can't install your drivers is because Mint (and Linux in general) uses a different way of installing than Windows does, so you can't use install-files for Windows and install them on Mint. (There are exceptions for games and other applications, but that won't help you with your d...
