Re: Forum has been upgraded (report issues here)

xenopeek,
I logged in yesterday and noticed the site looked a great deal better - different icons and the overall theme looked sharper. Good work!
I haven't seen any problems, but will post here if I run across anything amiss.

Thank you for all of the hard work :D

Re: Any good guides on making your own cinnamon theme?

I was thinking of making my own theme to match the paper icon theme, but i don't know where to start. Are there any good guides out there? The best thing I can tell you is to take apart some themes and see how they're written. I did that in the beginning and ended up learning how to create entire t...

Re: did the desktop recently change?

Maybe a dumb question, but recently,I've noticed my tabs and such, most noticeable in Firefox, appear very flat, not like they used to. Honestly, I'm not sure this isn't some global "preference" I changed to accommodate a lower-end graphics card(I'm using a netbook with relatively modest hardware s...

[Tutorial] Disabling a laptop trackpad in Xfce

I use Linux Mint 18.2 and recently switched from Cinnamon to Xfce on my Dell Inspiron laptop. Everything was going well except for one minor issue; accidentally touching the touchpad while typing caused the cursor to move and this action was interrupting my typing. This post will document how I was ...

Re: Make your Mint Beautiful.

This has nothing to do with you, but I'm getting higly frustrated at trying to theme Linux Mint. I haven't been able to get anything to work properly since I installed Mint. I've followed several tutorials and nothing works as it's supposed to. Might be the fault of the tutorials. Be wary of PPA's ...

Re: How do I "Save as HTML" a CuriousCat user's page? (The downloaded html shows a 404 upon opening)

Hi "pepperminty", In my Linux Mint KDE 18.2 system using Firefox, I went to your webpage, clicked "File", "Save As", "Webpage Complete" (html), and it saved perfectly. I was able to open it as well. Using this method creates the HTML file and sub-folders with the HTML document's elements; this can ...

For those who don't know, you can watch Netflix on the version of Firefox that ships with Mint 18.2 - you only need to toggle on the DRM option in Firefox preferences.

Re: Sad about KDE going away, would Cin be for me?

I use Mint 18.2 - Cinnamon edition - and this is actually the first distro I've ever installed that didn't require any work out of the box. I've been using it for three months and it still amazes me. You might give the latest Cinnamon ISO a spin and see how it works for you.

Re: Sad about KDE going away, would Cin be for me?

I don't want to leave Mint, not at the moment, but sadly I've been pretty attached to KDE, though I can't explain why, it just feels a lot better than GNOME. So I know I don't care for GNOME, but what would I migrate to? What is Cinnamon like, how is it similar or better than KDE, and why did they ...

Re: Google Chrome or Chromium

Which browser should I install? Google Chrome of Chromium. I'm asking this question because in the Software Manager I can't find Google Chrome browser but only Chromium. From what I have read, Chromium is the open-source version of Google Chrome. There is a .deb file which will install Google Chrom...

Re: Is distro hopping ultimately pointless?

Linux Mint just created a flock of distro-hoppers by announcing it's dropping KDE. That's right. Just like Ubuntu did the same by adopting Unity... Yep, I moved over to Mint (Mate edition) after Ubuntu adopted the Unity desktop. It's a good thing I did too, because I ended up on the Cinnamon editio...

Re: New GTK update in 18.3 ?

I am wondering if it is possible to have the new GTK kit 3.20+ in Mint 18.3 ? Mint 18 is still on 3.18 which is long in the tooth. Most of the new themes do not support anymore that version which means that Mint is left in the cold for the latest theming. Not good. If you're into theming I would su...

Re: Screensaver as Root

I want to override the nanny controls and do what I want to do. I'm a big boy and I don't need training wheels. Besides - typing sudo before a command is just as insecure. I don't see why a 2 hour max setting on the screen saver is more secure than just leaving it on, being that I live alone and I ...

Yeah, if you installed it from sources, it won't be found in the package manager.
