Re: Max 100mbit/s - hardware limit on +5 year laptop?

I am happy too - Thank you for the help. I will mark this as solved and make another post in the WiFi category with a proper heading - I am fan of explanatory headings - and cat6 cables. @ Niels_DJ - - CONGRATS man!!! :D I had a feeling that cable might be it. And one would think the included cable ...

Re: Max 100mbit/s - hardware limit on +5 year laptop?

Heureka! *** So. in summary. 1. Replace that cable regardless with a cat6 cable ( doesn't matter the length as long as it's long enough to comfortably reach your PC ( if you have carpet, that's even better as you can tuck that sucker under the carpet along the baseboards without much effort..especia...

Re: Max 100mbit/s - hardware limit on +5 year laptop?

Thank you so far. My cable is the one that was in the box with the modem and I have not idea about class - but why would they put a cable if it reduces the speed? As my WiFi is only 50 mbit/s I assume there could be settings that could be adjusted - but I am not very familiar with the more 'nerdy' s...

You're going to run at the speed of the slowest link in the chain.

Re: Max 100mbit/s - hardware limit on +5 year laptop?

Thank you replying. Looking at the Network section in the info you provided, both WiFi and Ethernet should be able to do over 100 Mbit/s (WiFi seems to be limited to 300 Mbit/s and Ethernet should be able to get a gigabit/s). The possible limiting factor here might be your switch/router. What's the ...

Re: Going from Win10 to Mint - can data stay on win formated disk?

Thank you all who commented. First of all I will disappoint those of you who liked to see my hybrid drive explode when trying install Mint on it :D My conclusion until now: Free some space from existing C: drive and optimize the Mint partitions and let win OS be in the garage 'just in case'. I can c...

Re: Going from Win10 to Mint - can data stay on win formated disk?

Thank you.

When removing win OS I will have 200 GB additional space.
Should I then extend the existing Home partition to make room for more data or make another partition for new data - the latter as I would have done in win OS?

Regards
NIels
