Re: Linux Mint 19 “Tara” Cinnamon – BETA Release

Thank you so much for the hard work everyone has done on this. I loved what I saw when I was doing a live session. There was just one thing that I did not understand and that was to do with updating. I noticed this has now changed and a box pops up saying about backing up. I am sorry but I did not ...

Re: Cyberfox I love it a nice browser to use

I was looking for an alternative to browsers. I started using Firefox and was one of the first users of it and remember the excitement of it getting 1 million users, back in the day when IE was the only alternative. I stopped using it when it kept updating too often and was no longer the friendly b...

I did try a few of the suggestions here and even tried firefox again. Sorry I loved the first few additions, but now it is ...... we they've broken it and as for Yaho...

Modem/Router when to get a new one

I have searched to see if this has been posted before and couldn't find it It might be my age, but I found it so confusing as with so many hardware things as there is much conflicting information now. I presently have a Fritzbox 3390 and it works fine and I keep it updated. However I was noticing th...

Re: Am I the only one who still plays CDs?

I still buy and listen to them and use my cd drive on my laptop to do as well as listening to them in the car. There is nothing nicer than having something in your hand and reading the sleeve notes. What is more it saves my very precious LPs from being damaged. It does amuse me that some are now buy...

Re: What would you use if Mint wasn't available?

To be honest I don't know as none of the other distros I've looked at are as nice or as easy to use IMHO - I am not going to change. I had to use windows10 the other day and was completely lost after the ease of Mint . I am just glad Mint is here and that I've found it. So I'll do my best to promote...

Re: Release dates

... In short, the Ubuntu ISO point releases do the same thing as simply installing available updates on your LTS install. The Linux Mint ISO point releases actually bring new feature releases of select software. ... Okay. Installing 17.1 and 17.3 will create the same system in the end, but 17.1 wil...

Re: Why I no longer use Linux?

I read this thread and thought to myself confused is this from Microsoft. I have never had any problems logging into any account, bank or whatever, because all it is, is log in details which remain the same across all platforms. Can't speak for other Linux, but the transition from windows to Mint nev...

Re: I installed an SSD

This isn't technical thing and it really didn't seem to fit elsewhere when I searched - if it does Admins please forgive and place it in there - thank you. I have never had an SSD before and was quite frightened to use one, but I looked on line and they seemed to be okay. So I got a 480gb one at a ...

Re: Cyberfox I love it a nice browser to use

A year ago the lead developer said Cyberfox development would cease immediately and they would only do 12 more months of security updates: https://8pecxstudios.com/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1756. So effectively, that means it is unmaintained from this month. Has there been a change in plans for Cy...

Re: Just want to say been using Mint for 6 months Thank you

Yay! Edit: how's your view of the TT? If you mean the road races, well love them and always look forward to them - can't watch them live now as I am disabled, so have to listen to them on the radio and watch the highlights on the telly. Was able to see most of the Great Joey Dunlop and John's incre...

SOLVED Just want to say been using Mint for 6 months Thank you

Just want to say that I have been using Mint for 6 months now and I don't think that in 30 years of using various Operating systems that I have found a better one. So thank you to all involved in it and thank you to those members of the forum here that help others when they start using Mint which is...

Re: Please keep it simple including the upgrades

You started off with something I could get behind; to paraphrase 'do not introduce complication for complication's sake and keep advanced functionality optional.' Once you went on to 'I wish they would remove hibernate' you lost me. That's useful functionality for a lot of people and that button re...
