Well I got it working somehow. It's broken and kinda crazy but it's working lol. I managed to find the old 16.40 drivers. I'm using the 4.10 kernel. I installed the drivers but found in the log that it failed to compile the kernel module. I decided to reboot and try it anyway... Cinnamon is working ...

So you're saying that with a 4.10/4.11 kernel and 17.30 AMDgpu pro drivers, you can fix the black screen of cinnamon death after reboot with a kernel compilation in text mode?
How do you do that? I used to compile kernels in the 90s but with mint I just use the update Manager.
