Re: Installed, yes. Where? I don't know.

(PS: read the dscription for clonezilla in Synaptic)

Read up on it here: https://clonezilla.org/

The Clonezilla found in the repositories is the Server edition. You need to download the Live CD from the Clonezilla website.

Re: VERY strange installation problem.

I would try Mint 19.1 , as it has a newer kernel. Which may be needed for your new machine. :)

Re: XFCE panels like in Mint Cinnamon 19.1

Right click the panel > Panel > Panel Preferences. Go to the Items tab. Scroll and click "Window Buttons", then click the i button along the right side.
There you can find some tweaks that may or may not help you.

Re: panel windows

Right click the panel > Panel > Panel Preferences. Go to the Items tab. Locate the Window Buttons, click on it to highlight, then click the i button on the right. There you will be able to choose between Timestamp, Group Title, Window Title, Both, or None (drag & drop). :)

Re: Update Manager: Apply levels 3 and 4 ("large" and "sensitive" impact levels)?

Check the Update Manager's preferences, there should be a checkbox to "always show security updates" (or similar) . . which means that they will show up even if they are higher level updates.
