Re: Recommended Kernel for Mint 17.3 XFCE

Yes it's easy, if the new kernel doesn't work properly for you, then you can hold down the Shift key during boot-up to get to the Grub menu where you can down-arrow to choose your previous kernel . . :)

Re: Recommended Kernel for Mint 17.3 XFCE

I've been running the 4.4 series LTS kernel on my Mint 17.3 Xfce edition. :)
The only other LTS kernel is the 3.13 series.

When using Synaptic Package Manager, and you choose to "Mark for removal", there is another option; "Mark for complete removal" :-)

Re: Change MintUpdate tray iconmint

Instead of locating and modifying the present icon, why not go into Mint Update Manager > Edit > Preferences > Icons tab, and change the icon to one of your's in your /home directory ?

Re: Sound control issue

It was my first time using with Linux Mint .. You do know that you are running the BETA version of Mint 18.2, right? Not a good idea for your first time using Mint. The BETA issues and problems need to be reported in the comments section of the Release Announcement blog. http://blog.linuxmint.com/?...

There is the chance of a black screen when you boot with the new nvidia card. Please read the Mint 17.3 Release Announcement where it is explained in detail. Best to be forewarned and prepared. :-)

Re: Workspaces and workspace panel item

I am just wondering why Linux Mint doesn't have the workspace panel at the bottom whereas most Linux distros do.

I have been running Mint's Xfce edition since Mint 7 Gloria, and it has always been in the bottom panel ! :?
