Re: changed from ubuntu mate to mint 19

You should be able to see the partition(s) which have MATE in Cinnamon's File Manager program (Nemo).
You may have to right-click and choose "Mount drive" or similarly worded to access them.

Re: Mint updater does not find any update

I do not see any errors. (if there is in Spanish, please let me know.)
The only other thing I can think of, is to try a different main server from the Software Sources program.

Re: Mint updater does not find any update

Please try this Terminal command, then copy the complete output, and paste it back here in a reply.
(please paste it between the Code tags, the button (</>) that you see above the text box when you reply).

apt update

Re: Remove all python and kill linux

Please remember . .
Most every Linux Mint application is programmed in Python. Many other applications in Linux are either programmed in or require Python as a dependency. (including system apps)

Re: LM 19 Cinnamon - Downgrading?

I suggest option number 2 . . go with either Xfce or MATE. Your x300 graphics may be too weak to handle the heavy 3D rendering required for Cinnamon.

Have you tried:

Highlight the text . . do not right-click, but go to the place where you want to paste, and use a middle-click to paste. ?

The error message states that you need OpenGL 2.0 or higher to run glmark2.

What does this terminal command show you ?

Re: DVD Drive Issues

I insert my monitor dvd into the drive and while it does pop up on my screen - it just seems kind of frozen and unable to play a disc...any thoughts?
Monitor dvd ???

If you are talking about a drivers disk for your monitor, it is most likely Windows Only, and will NOT run on any Linux system.

Re: System or hardisk failure?

Looks like your hard drive is deteriorating and is failing! Time to back up all of your important data to an external disk or usb, before it fails completely. Time for a new hard drive. PS: running the live Mint usb or disk does not use the hard drive, but runs in ram. That is why you do not see the...

Re: System or hardisk failure?

When you boot up the Live Mint disk/usb, open the Disks program, choose/click on your Hard Drive on the left, then click the little Gear icon button in the upper right, and choose "SMART Data and Self Tests". Let it complete the tests . .

Does it show any errors, bad sectors, or other anomalies ?

Keep a close eye on the bad sectors, as they are usually the first sign of degradation. So if the number of bad sectors starts to rise . . . :(

With both an un-supported kernel and an un-supported graphics driver, it might be really hard to diagnose the problem.

Anything showing up in the log files ?
