Re: Can not boot after kernel update

If you hold down the Shift key at initial boot-up, you should be able to get to the Grub menu. Once there, choose "Previous kernel" (or similarly named) and choose to boot the kernel that last worked for you.

Take a look at Clonezilla Live CD . .

I humbly suggest that you read the download page carefully, and choose either the "Stable" or "Alternative Stable" (which I use)

Or you could try this . .

Once you have clicked the Logout/Shutdown, in the Logout/Shutdown window there is a "Save Session for future logins" checkbox. Un-check it, and restart.

Just a thought . .

A small UPS power supply will allow the computer to shut down normally when the AC power has been cut. and the UPS will re-charge when the AC power is turned back on.

That happens when you have another program that uses apt/dpkg open.

Question - why are you bypassing Mint Update Manager with that sort of unsafe apt-get upgrade command?

Re: Taskbar Panel: Single Program Always Moves to Right of Others When They're Opened Afterwards

Right click on the panel, click Panel > and choose Panel Preferences; go to the Items tab.
Scroll down to Window Buttons, highlight it, and click the Edit/Info button to the right.
Once the Window Button preferences window is visible, change the Sort Order to Timestamp or Nothing. :)

sudo dpkg -configure -a
It won't work as typed because it is missing a hyphen. It should have two hyphens before the word configure. sudo dpkg --configure -a
