Re: Mint 17 and 18 and now 19 AMD GPU drivers! Look here before doing anything!

Hello roblm !

I'll do that, but it will probably need to wait over the new year (I'm not close to that computer right now).

Thanks for giving good instructions, I think I can follow them. My skills with linux command line are very limited so good examples really help with getting started.

Re: Mint 17 and 18 and now 19 AMD GPU drivers! Look here before doing anything!

Just for anybody that is trying this at the minute I can confirm that using Radeon™ Software for Linux® Driver for Ubuntu 18.04.1 with Revision Number 18.50 and following the guide so expertly written by @Dukenukemx I have had 100% success. Change line 3 and 6 to suit your situation. $ cat /etc/os-...

Re: Mint 17 and 18 and now 19 AMD GPU drivers! Look here before doing anything!

What's the recipe for successfully installing amdgpu-pro version 18.50 on Mint 19 ? I run the last 18.40 build without problems (Mint 19, kernel 4.15.0-42, R9 390). I tried identical installation methods with 18.50 but I can't get it to work. Installation will complete seemingly without any problems...

my system is mint mate 18.1 serena 64bit
kernel 4.4.0-134-generic
I believe that kernel is too old for this. Something like 4.10 is required.

Has anybody had luck with the new amdgpu-pro 18.30 ? https://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/ubuntu/18.04/amdgpu-pro-18.30-633530.tar.xz I tried to install it, but there were errors telling some required package can only be installed on Ubuntu. I had modified the installer just like with earlier versions...

Re: Mint 17 and 18 AMDGPU drivers! Look here before doing anything!

Sorry I was meaning how can you tell the right drivers are being used? In ubuntu I was able to tell in system info as before installation it would say amd graphics and then after it said Amd RX460. Command "inxi -Gx" says GLX version is currently: ".... CPC 17.50.2.13". When this system was still r...

I basically have the same but a 460. How can you tell it it works? I seen to be having uses. Thanks I'm running Boinc and crunching openCL tasks (Einstein@Home). There haven't been errors so far. I don't know if this system could handle gaming environment or if audio through HDMI is working, but fo...

Re: Mint 17 and 18 AMDGPU drivers! Look here before doing anything!

I can confirm that driver amdgpu-pro-17.50-511655 is working fine with this combination: R9 390 Linux Mint 18.3 kernel 4.13.0-32 Ps. I followed advice here and upgraded xorg-server to version 1.19.5 at first . Then I run the installer with option: --opencl=legacy I also tried to install this driver ...

Re: Get AMD drivers on Mint 18 [ONLY FOR R7, R9, OR RX CARDS]

I also tried to update kernel to v10 as I saw at AMD site that newest version of driver 17.30 said it supported kernel v10. So I downloaded newest build of that amdgpu-pro driver. That latest version caused problems and didn't work with any kernel. "X-server not running" ... "unable to start graphic...
