grub 2

I used to be able to edit the boot order of grub 2 but now it seems you can't edit the grub.cfg file. I know that your not supposed to edit this file but I used to be able to edit the order of OS's in this file. Now it seems that no matter what you do you can't edit this order. I've tried to edit th...

Re: cpu usage

it seems that it's not using as much cpu now. I'm averaging about 15 percent on all cpu cores with firefox and vivaldi running multiple tabs. Maybe just needed a restart.

Re: cpu usage

My usage is the same with handbrake off. I checked it a little bit ago and it didn't change. Have you noticed any increase in cpu usage since all the firmware upgrades came out?

Re: Failed to Start the X server

have you tried to purge the amd video driver? video drivers on linux are really bad in my opinion. you should have a fallback mode of some sort and most of the time it will just give you the xserver has failed to start screen. if you can uninstall the amd driver you might be able to get back to the ...

Re: opera 53 on lmde2

I'm sorry, I misunderstood you. I have version 1-3 but it needs something newer and I can't remember the version # it said it needed. The only way I've found to install it is from debian testing which really messed things up. I'm going to use vivaldi for now and wait for lmde 3 to use opera in lmde....

Re: driver manager for lmde2

I finally got it going. Here's what worked for me. I followed the tutorial on youtube by don't call me lenny and i'll post the link. there is one exception to it though. when you get to the part where you are to install the nvidia-driver package you must use jessie-backports in order for it to work....

Re: driver manager for lmde2

Not a beginner. Been using linux for almost 10 years straight and off and on before that. I used to use Ubuntu and then went to mint. I loved regular mint but I wanted a rolling release so I moved to lmde a bit ago. I just got an nvidia 1060 card and started having allot of problems. Got the xserver...
