Re: Pointer problem

Problem solved. The USB stick was not seating correctly in it's socket. Once I re-inserted the stick the pointer became operational - computer seems to be ok now.

My next challenge will be to choose and install a VPN.
Thanks to all.

Is there any documentation about the new mint xfce Software Manager that I could review?

Re: Opening downloaded apps

I downloaded from the ESET antivirus site.

I right clicked the downloaded file and the Software Manager was an option for opening the file.

Re: Linux Mint xfce xfce install from purchased disc

My original problem started when I was following the "Ten Things To Do ...." tips as I attempted to edit the "etc/apt/..../00" line because I didn't know that "true" ment "1". I was able to boot the 18.3 after finding the correct Boot option. However, the first couple of times I tried to install the...

Re: Linux Mint xfce xfce install from purchased disc

When I loaded the 18.3 disc it showed up on the 18.2 screen. I then right clicked the disc symbol and selected the mount option and then clicked open. At that point there was no install option. I'll try reloading the 18.3 disc in the laptop. I'm using an android tablet at the moment. I'll try to get...

Line editing in xfce

How do I edit out a stray "2" from the line "/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/00recommends in xfce18.2"?

I cannot download app updates or open some other functions because of the stray "2" (I don't know how the "2" got entered on the line)

AMD64 Microcode 2.20160316.1

Hello everyone I removed Vista Basic (SP1+2) and made a clean install of Cinnamon 18.1 ((32bit version) on a Acer 5515-5879 laptop. Cinnamon acted crazy so I tried a driver update and was told that the existing AMD64 microcode was not working. I done some research and discovered that Linux Mint usua...
