Re: TrueCrypt, VeraCrypt, or ???

I use LUKS (Linux Unified Key Setup) in LM 19.3 x64. I created a "Data" partition on the HDD. Within the Data partition, I have several encrypted folders (LUKS).
I, personally, would NOT use either TrueCrypt or VeraCrypt (as TrueCrypt has a NASA backdoor, probably VeraCrypt, also).
Safe encrypting.

Re: Cyberghost

I have been using Cyberghost for around 10 years. Cyberghost has an installation package for Linux, BUT, after running hoops for 2 weeks, I gave up.
Too many errors, etc.......
So, now, I just logon to Cyberghost and go from there.

Well, in that case, maybe you should check into "mifi". That works for several friends.
Good luck.

Try a USB wifi adaptor, if possible.

Re: Wifi not working on T430 laptop

Kramer,
1. Boot from a Live Linux Mint 19.3 DVD/USB and try the wifi.
2. Use a USB wifi adaptor.
3. Reinstall LM, sometimes you encounter a bad install.

Re: Wifi extenders

A friend had a location he needed wifi for that was 1000 feet from his house. I ran 1000 feet of Romex 10-3 gray outdoor wire from the house breaker box, with an additional 20-Amp breaker. Inside an enclosed waterproof polybox that sits on a platform 5 feet high that has a roof, I installed a GFCI o...

Re: Bottom Taskbar and menu

My "Find" or "Control-F" pops up at the top of a webpage. Using File Manager, it opens the Search window. I am using LM Mate 19.3 Kernel 4.15.0.91.

Re: Timeshift, Not enough disk space.

I always create a "DATA" partition on the HDD/SSD just to store Timeshift backups and other data, KEEPING all this data off the / and /home partitions, etc, etc..
This way, I never run out of space.
I also copy/move Timeshift backups to external HDD/SSD, thereby saving needed space on the PC.

Re: Files Won't Delete From Directory

To remove ALL files inside that directory:
sudo rm /path-to-folder/foldername/*

Then, to remove that directory (which is now empty):
sudo rm /path-to-folder/foldername

This always works for me, but I'm sure there's a better way.

Re: How is a website detecting my previous visits with....

Firefox has betrayed US. Period. No more donations for Mozilla, on any level. Can anyone please create a browser without data transmitting, telemetry, etc, etc, etc..........? IMPO, an off-shore VPN that flushes their logs daily is the only way to go. Privacy is dead, we are on our own. Who can we t...

My Browser-Cleanse script: #!/bin/bash echo "Delete Firefox_SlimJet_Opera_Vivaldi_Chrome_Data-History-Cache-Thumbnails" <snip> echo "All done." echo "This Window will Close in 5 seconds....." sleep 5 exit 0 sudo stop What does that last sudo stop do? "sudo stop" closes the Terminal window.

Just plug the laptop into your router via a LAN/Ethernet cable, if you can't get your phone tethered.

I have a main wifi router upstairs, another wifi router in the kitchen, and another wifi router in the carport; the other 2 are in repeater mode.
Great coverage.

Re: Linux 19 & mail servers

As JoeFootball stated, your mail server's setting may have changed.
Or, runbox is fubar; I would uninstall/reinstall.
Or, TBird has issues; I would uninstall/reinstall.

I use TBird and it's flawless on LM 19.3.

Re: Two problems after LMDE3 installation

What wifi adapter (card) is installed in that PC?
If it's a Broadcom, you may need to compile the drivers.
I have LDME3 installed on 4 PCs, 2 with Broadcom wifi adapters and 2 with Intel; all 4 work fine out-of-the-box.

Re: LMDE3 USB External HDD & USB Flash Drive Install

pbear, that package was recommended by a post I read. After installing it, the USB flash drive with LMDE3 would not boot on any of my 6 PCs. I did a complete reinstall on that USB flash drive to make it bootable again, before I found out how to remove the PAE package without doing a complete reinsta...
