I installed an Intel AX210 in a 10-year old laptop and it works flawlessly; drivers pre-installed in kernel.

Re: CR-ROM not working
If a laptop has a DVD drive, I usually remove it and install a HDD/SSD caddy with a 1-2TB SSD for additional space.
If I need a DVD drive, I purchase a USB external DVD drive, which can be plugged into any PC for use.

Re: NVMe upgrade choices
I always use Crucial, WesternDigital & Intel SSDs (whatever variety), with a 5-year warranty.
I also use several 2TB NVME 2280 M.2 SSDs inside USB enclosures for backup. Better safe than sorry.
Good luck.

Re: Unclear how to get better driver for Qualcomm Atheros QCNFA765 Wi-FI
Your problem is just another reason why I remove all Broadcom & Qualcomm/Atheros wifi cards and install Intel wifi cards, which usually have the drivers installed in the kernel.

Re: Nemo won't let me copy a file
I had this problem in the past, and found that if I take ownership of the files, I can then copy them to wherever I wish. Check file ownership in your home folder: find $HOME ! -user $USER If that command produces NO output, the files are owned by USER. If that command produces output, run this comm...

Re: NVIDIA drivers in a dual GPU laptop LMDE 6
I was running LMDE5 for the past several years on my 10-year old Sony Vaio with the Nvidia GeForce 410M (GF119) discreet video card. Smooth sailing. 2 weeks ago I upgraded to LMDE6 & no Nvidia effects whatsoever, as the pc was using the default LMDE6 video drivers. I got tired of messin' around ...

Re: Can't Remove VPN software
Try these options to uninstall Riseup-vpn:
sudo apt-get purge riseup-vpn
Or look in /usr/share/applications
Or look in ~/.local/share/applications if you can see something like riseup-vpn and then delete it.

Re: PC Freezes and Audio loop, Have to Power Button Shutdown... NEW
Using the power button to turn off a frozen PC may eventually corrupt the OS, requiring a reinstall. Instead, use one of the following, which are safer. REBOOT 1. Hold DOWN CTRL+ALT, Print Screen - PrtSc (same key as SysRq). 2. Press and Release/tap R E I S U B, one after the other. 3. PC will Reboo...

Re: Internet pages not displaying properly
This morning I updated the mesa drivers via Update Manager, and after reboot, ALL web pages, regardless of browser, are "messed up". These are the mesa updates that trashed the browsers: mesa-va-drivers_22.2.5-0ubuntu0.1~22.04.2_amd64.deb mesa-vdpau-drivers_22.2.5-0ubuntu0.1~22.04.2_amd64...

Re: Internet pages not displaying properly
