Re: openssl on Mint 17.0
Hi xenopeek, Thanks for the clarification and the work you went into for the reply. The history of the project is that it is a CLI program originally coded for Macs, and then ported by Matthew Motz (linwiz) on github (with the author's help) to build on linux. Matthew was able to build the applicati...

openssl on Mint 17.0
Hi everyone, I'm having trouble building an application from source. You can find the source here , and the problem I'm having is documented here . The author insists that the openssl that I installed from the repos is 32bit. How do I find out if this is true? If it is true, is why would it be the c...

Re: USB to HDMI adapter using DisplayLink
Hey dude, I'm in the same boat as you. It looks like if you want it to work you're going to have to dig around in your Xorg configuration. I'm scared to, as I am running Linux on my tablet and have my wacom stylus and screen rotation set up just perfectly at the moment. DisplayLink devices are relat...

Re: sbackup not running from....
Thanks kwisher,
I'm using BackInTime on two machines now. I'm not sure I like it as much as I liked sbackup, but I think it's only a graphical interface issue. The program works just fine. Thanks for the suggestion!

Tim

Re: Help! Upgraded mint package & installed ugly splashes!
Thanks curmudgeon. I have tried to find the package that way, but so far no luck. I either want to find a way to remove the package (if any) that caused this splash screen switch, or replace the splash screens without them being switched back to the ugly ones every time I restart the computer. Thank...

Re: Help! Upgraded mint package & installed ugly splashes!
Is there a way to search through packages by what they install? For instance, could I use some type of command to find what package was installed by entering the complete filename (e.g. /usr/share/gimp/2.0/images/gimp-splash.png)?

Re: Which mint for low RAM computer?
Thank you for all your advice, highly appreciated! I have now installed Lubuntu AND Puppy, and I'm currently downloading Crunchbang#!. Lubuntu actually runs fairly well, so I will probably give Mint a shot after all. However Puppy runs even smoother and recognizes all hardware I connect, truly amaz...

Re: Dial-Up GUI: In Which Editions?!
Yeah, you're probably right. I had a bit of trouble understanding what was being said, precisely. If gnome-ppp is in the local repository, why isn't it simply installed, I wonder? That's a very good question; I was wondering that myself. I'm sure there's a good reason for it. Perhaps it gives you m...

Help! Upgraded mint package & installed ugly splashes!
Hello, I recently upgraded a few packages, and now the Gimp and Open Office splash screens have been replaced by (I assume newer) uglier ones. I unfortunately don't remember which package I installed that did this, but I would really like to roll back to the original splash screens if possible. I've...

Re: sbackup not running from....
I'm not sure, but I know that BackInTime is not in the Gloria repositories. If I could get sBackup to work it would be really great, but if BackInTime is available for Jaunty then I suppose I could switch to that.
