Re: I'm out of patience.

I believe all OSs have always had telemetry regardless of which OS it may be it's just that the consumer / user is aware of it now. Can you point to a source for that? Didn't say it was fact. I said I believe all OSs have always had telemetry regardless of which OS it may be it's just that the cons...

Re: I'm out of patience.

I did not hate Windows 7 but I hated the way MS tried to push Win 10 on everyone. Agreed. And most of all, I hate the telemetry (that's also been backported to Win7). I believe all OSs have always had telemetry regardless of which OS it may be it's just that the consumer / user is aware of it now.

Re: The joys of living in Rural Areas

I was raised with a hoe in one hand, and a shovel in the other, and a hay hook in my back pocket. when I got old enough to get a job and leave home, I swore that I would never use a hoe or shovel again. As a kid I had to maintain the yard etc and hate yard work although I do appreciate a well maint...

Re: Feral rescue cat

Neat story. The Wife and I have two standard oem cats which are brothers according to the shelter where we adopted them. They're around six months old and always wrestling around with each other and knocking stuff over when playing. When they're not terrorizing the house or underfoot they're balled ...

Yes, it seems Linux Mint has been getting worse with every new version since LM 17x.
I have no complaints with LM 19.1 Xfce everything installed and works great OOTB on my 2009 Frankenstein build.

Re: What is your most favorite software program you just cant (and wont) live without?

I started using Vlc Mediaplayer in Windows, although it's program's user interface looks indeed arent very charming, it does do the trick for what it is designed for: handle ALL video and music files. In my Windows XP days I had an analog TV / Radio Card and used VLC with that card and it worked be...

I agree without the browser the computer is worthless.
That is a Fact, Jack....

and Firefox is the only browser of choice....
the others are just crippled attempts to make a good browser.
Yep I do prefer Firefox although I've no complaints with Chromium.

think i might be better off listing what i have installed in cinnamon, then peeps can say if a specific app won't work in debian.
Perhaps this may help.

Re: Mint Debian Editon 3 VS Mint Cinnamon19

while that is nice it still doesn't answer my question "so with lmde3 a far smaller selection of software available?". that said i've always been partial to debian, but this last go around i wasn't overly impressed. when i've tested it in the past i was very impressed with the shear amount of softw...

Re: Mint Debian Editon 3 VS Mint Cinnamon19

I don't find any speed difference between LMDE 3 and Linux Mint 19.0 Cinnamon they both run excellent on my 2010 Dell Optiplex 380. Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93 GHz processor and 4.0 GB DDR 3 memory and mechanical 5400 RPM laptop hard drive. I've always been a fan of Debian which was my first Linux D...
