Re: I have finally stopped distro hopping!

Not to nit-pick but isn't running several distros by definition distro hopping? I don't think so because a user who's distro hopping generally will only test drive the distro for a short time perhaps before testing another. The reason I run several different Linux distros on several different compu...

Re: Debian 10 "Buster" was released

Yep Debian Wheezy was my first experience with Linux. I then tried Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Trusty Tahr and still use Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Bionic Beaver. I use LMDE 3 and prefer LMDE 3 over the Linux Mint standard versions which are OK. Yeah seems like a good enough reason to toss back a few double shoots of Wi...

A little rough for my taste, but a lot of people like it.
I guess it depends on your taste and what you are use to.

Re: Has anyone played around with MX Linux?

Yeah I hear ya MX Linux is a good choice for anyone just like Linux Mint Xfce and both being Xfce are pretty much the same from my experience although MX Linux being Debian its software packages are probably older than Linux Mint software packages. Those guys keep fairly new versions of certain app...

Re: Has anyone played around with MX Linux?

I created a live USB and holy hell, it is blazing fast compared to Mint on my set up.....i3 w 4g of ram on an Acer all in one. I expect a full install will be even faster. Now, being a somewhat thinking man, I wonder is is because it is a fresh install without all my programs added or just works we...

Re: Has anyone played around with MX Linux?

Mint sure appears much more polished, but, from my reading, MX seems to operate more smoothly and be an easier distro for newbies. I've used Linux Mint Xfce and MX Linux in the past and I find them both to work well and either one of them is easy to navigate without problems. Curiosity has me now.....

AntiX is nice, even though it might take a bit more effort on the user's part.
Yes it is and the slight learning curve isn't hard to overcome as there is an excellent how to guide.

Re: Lubuntu: Welcome to LXQt

I read something about AntiX Linux. It doesn't use systemd. That booted *blazingly* fast. I don't remember seeing an OS boot that fast in decades (if ever!). It's very snappy when loaded. 159,252 memory used. It feels a little rough/disorganized/technical like Puppy. It's worth looking at just to s...

Re: I'm out of patience.

I believe all OSs have always had telemetry regardless of which OS it may be it's just that the consumer / user is aware of it now. Can you point to a source for that? Didn't say it was fact. I said I believe all OSs have always had telemetry regardless of which OS it may be it's just that the cons...

Re: I'm out of patience.

I did not hate Windows 7 but I hated the way MS tried to push Win 10 on everyone. Agreed. And most of all, I hate the telemetry (that's also been backported to Win7). I believe all OSs have always had telemetry regardless of which OS it may be it's just that the consumer / user is aware of it now.
