Re: Back to Linux Mint I go.

I've had good results with most Linux distros I've used or I'm using now and any issues or problems I may have had I created thinking I knew what I was doing.

Most Linux distros I've used or are using are rock solid.

Re: How long have you been using Linux ?

Prior to Windows XP EOL 2014 so almost 10 years.

I cut my Linux teeth with Debian Wheezy.

While learning about Linux I used Windows Vista and had no complaints with Windows Vista.

I keep a working Windows OS computer to run Flight Simulator X although it stays disconnected from the internet.

Re: Linux Mint 21.3

I may do an in-place upgrade and see what it's like. Thanks :) I would at least look at the live .iso of 21.3 before you commit to upgrading to it. There were some theme changes, and additions in 21.1, or 21.2 ? I personally did not care for, and I will continue with Mint 21 Vanessa till, Mint 22, ...

Re: It is heck getting old

At 61, I consider myself pretty lucky that I have no illnesses nor any medication. This is probably partly due to a rather healthy lifestyle: I quit smoking at 23, do daily exercise, put lots of green stuff in my food (300 - 400 grammes of vegetables a day), and I have a good BMI: I'm almost as sle...

Re: Linux Mint 21.3

Hello All, I'm running Linux Mint 21 Vanessa Xfce and was curious is there that much difference between Linux Mint 21.0 version and Linux Mint 21.3 version. Thanks. Mainly improvements "under the hood". Good stuff, no disruption of the previous user experience. I can recommend an in-place...

Re: Some people are not well informed about Linux

I often tell people to not be so quick to yank all their Windows. Many DO need it. Yes you are right, windows is still needed I used to not be able to login to some websites unless using a Windows OS but then discovered that I could login to those websites using Google Chrome. I don't know what's u...

Re: It is heck getting old

The one thing that I fail to see in this thread is exercise as a remedy. As little as walking for 20 minutes every day keeps me ache and pain-free. I used to ride my bicycle most everywhere I could on a regular bases but unable to do that at the moment these days as I need a full hip replacement bo...

Re: When did you start to realize Linux will never become the future of desktop computing?

Leave Linux be.
Linux is fine where it is.
Linux don't need to become the desktop of the future.
Don't understand why people want Linux to be the desktop of the future.
The day Linux becomes the desktop of the future is the day Linux becomes a polluted OS.

Re: Stayin' Up Too Late

I'm in my 70s and have my nights when I can't although don't intentionally let nothing interrupt my sleep.

I learn enough to install and use the Linux distro of choice and learn what I needed along the way.

For the most Linux works OOTB.

Enjoy the Linux adventure.

Re: Warning! Do NOT buy SSDs from Amazon!

Yeah we just buy the cheapest appliances we can and when they quit working we put them on the curb and do it again... Not me. I would rather pay more for better quality (when I can find it) and not have to deal with frequent replacement which, ultimately, costs me more. We used to think the same th...

I'll never buy another thing from Samsung again (they have been plummeting in quality and customer service the past few years for everything they sell). I agree Samsung has gone downhill. Samsung cell phones used to be good quality although the last ones we bought are cheap garbage and a POS. As fo...

That's a nice thought and a nice wish although the ones who could make that become a reality don't seem to want that to happen or it would already be a reality.

A belated Merry Christmas to all.

Happy New Year to all.

Re: Old Laptops

Old Laptops make good targets for the 357 magnum.

I have folks give me their old laptops and most of them are junk.

Batteries won't charge, keyboards flaky or missing keys failed HDDs or SSDs.

Plain and simple laptops are disposable.
