Re: How to edit applet MInt 19.1

Figured it out - just swapped out "Grouped Window List" for "Panel Launchers" and added to it.

[Solved} How to edit applet MInt 19.1

I've just installed 19.1 on a fresh disk. Here's my issue: Opera browser opens in a small window, not full screen. I've previously fixed this bug by adding "--start-maximized" to the launcher command on either the desktop or panel. As in opera %U --start-maximized I can't seem to do that in 19.1 to t...

A Cosmetic Question

(Still running 18.3)

Is there any way to give names or labels to workspaces?

I use them a lot, and it would be nice if a mouse-over told me more than "Workspace 3"

Re: Wordpress.org Question

Did a system files restore from this AM's backup and then tried again.
This time Bitnami Wordpress Stack solved all the issues.
Took me all freakin' day to get here.

Thanks all who helped.

Re: Wordpress.org Question

I just tried this way, too, to no avail. https://codex.wordpress.org/User:Beltranrubo/BitNami BitNami WordPress Stack is a free, self-contained, easy-to-install package that bundles every piece of software (dependency) necessary to run WordPress for development or production purposes. It includes th...

Re: Wordpress.org Question

No, but I did this though:, from https://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress#Installing_WordPress_on_your_own_Computer AMPPS: Free WAMP/MAMP/LAMP stack, with inbuilt Softaculous Installer. Can 1 click install and upgrade WordPress and others as well. It ran through a load of little dots, told m...

Wordpress.org Question

I want to learn how to use Wordpress.org (not .com), but I want to know how to get it going before shelling out for a host. Can I install it on this box and access it like this box is the server? I have it installed here in /var/www/html/wordpress but I can't get anything to work, cuz I'm just not u...

Nemo date options

Just put 18.3 on another box but for some reason this time I'm not getting the normal date formats Nemo - instead of
Mar 6 2019
I'm getting
6 Mar 2019
I ran

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales
to make sure I had US installed.

Now what do I need to do to fix the date format in Nemo?

Re: Cannot install Mint to GPT disk

I've done multiple searches for how to create a boot sector in linux - none work so far.

If I go into Gparted, the only way I can create a tiny partition is to format it as "cleared" and that does not work - grub is never installed.

So tell me where/what question to get this answer, please.

Cannot install Mint to GPT disk

Have a box that used to have a windows disk, and was using the MBR to dual boot linux. I took out the windows disk entirely, and now I'm having trouble with a fresh install of Linux. I used a GPT partition table, hoping to stay away from extended partitions, and I can't get Mint to boot after instal...

Re: Where is "openvpn.conf" located?

Thanks, but that's not the problem; I've put the password there for all users, doesn't help at startup, I'm still asked for the password. What I'm trying to do is automate openvpn connection at startup without needing to enter any password info. As the referenced article says, I need to find the fil...

Where is "openvpn.conf" located?

As per this article https://www.maketecheasier.com/connect-vpn-automatically-linux/ Trying to automate VPN connection and these instructions are giving me a problem: Open “/etc/openvpn/openvpn.conf” with sudo. Look for a line that contains “auth-user-pass.” It’ll probably be sitting there alone with...

Turned out to be a glitch in the installation of Vbox.
Exported machine, removed/purged/re-installed Vbox, imported machine, all good.

[Solved] how to auto-close VM when Vbox closes

How do I get a Guest VM to shutdown when the VPN connection breaks? I believe this command would do it, but I don't know where/how to use it here. VBoxManage controlvm "slackware" savestate I'm using a kill-switch, "VPN Lifeguard" which would do the job for me if I knew how to make the VM shut down ...

Re: 18.3 Cinnamon hangs nearly every shutdown

Yes, that's basically the message.
But when it reaches that time, it just sits there, maybe forever if I let it, but so far I've only left it like that for 1/2 hour or so before I lean on the off button.
Sounds like you know what's up here?
