Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install torbrowser-launcher
Thank-you. That is the quickest, easiest install to tor I have ever seen.

Trying to install tor but nothing is working

I have done everything possible to install tor or (tor browser). I used to get lucky and google it and usually got one good hit that worked. I have recently tried and none of the google hits work. It seems like no one really knows. Sometimes if I found the ppa but verification would come back invali...

[SOLVED] Google repository changed name won't update anymore

None of my google chrome updates work. When I enter sudo apt-get update I receive the following message that the name of the google repository changed and I must accept explicitly before update. E: Repository 'http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/deb stable Release' changed its 'Origin' value from 'Goo...

Re: HDMI will not connect laptop and tv

My thoughts are that the TV is not the primary display or that the resolution is larger than the TV screen. In both situations the menu bar is projected out of sight. Or maybe the system is confused. You had no password box yet you logged on -by entering the password assuming it would be there? If ...

Re: HDMI shows Mint background on tv but nothing else

Sometimes, you need to turn on the TV 1st and only then boot the computer with the HDMI cable connected. Ahhh. That makes sense. The answer is sometimes just basic procedure. I will be working on problem later tonight and let you know how it goes. Ok. When I shut the computer down, I looked up and ...

Re: HDMI will not connect laptop and tv

As you described yourself: your tv was able to connect to your same laptop and same Hdmi cable using Windows 10. So it is logical to conclude that it isnt a hardware problem. Maybe this link below will shed some light on your problem which seems to be LinuxMint software related: https://superuser.c...

HDMI will not connect laptop and tv

I am trying to connect my laptop screen to my tv using hdmi. The hdmi cable I am using works fine for my P4. I have also used hdmi on a laptop in the past and worked fine using Windows10. At that time, all I had to do was plug in the hdmi cable and change the input of my tv to the slot the hdmi cabl...

Re: For penetration testing and security why not mint [SOLVED]

Well, most hacks are probably not even getting discovered, even if they are they still need to get reported, etc. Still, be aware of the risks. Your country is still the one with the highest incarceration rate on this planet, no other regime on the planet deprives such a high ratio of their citizen...

Re: For penetration testing and security why not mint [SOLVED]

I'm pretty sure obtaining access to another computer system is technically illegal. The United States is the biggest hacker of the world, including spying on it's own citizens. This info is accurate and shows that our government hates competition. I don't see why the government thinks they can just ...

Re: For penetration testing and security why not use mint

I was under the impression that Kali was security based from different material I have read on it and Parrot. It is from a network perspective (no listening services by default, for example), but it is very insecure if you start using it as a desktop OS, because that's not its (narrow) role. Thats ...

Re: For penetration testing and security why not use mint

If you want to check your own open ports, then you don't need anything special for that: netstat -l If you want to check other people's open ports (port scanning) on a network that's not yours, then that gets you into a grey area where you'll start triggering security alarms (and if you go further,...

Re: For penetration testing and security why not use mint

If you can actually USE the hacking tools that come with Kali etc you don't need a newbie oriented distro. /thread So the only real difference when it comes to security systems are the apps that come pre-installed? Kali has nothing built in to anonymize the user or added security advantages over a ...

Re: For penetration testing and security why not use mint

If you can actually USE the hacking tools that come with Kali etc you don't need a newbie oriented distro. I agree with that only these tools are easier to learn on a user friendly distro. I wanted to check for things such as open ports (vulnerability) and packages like wireshark to check out netwo...

Re: For penetration testing and security why not use mint

You can install most if not all of the "penetration testing and security" apps in the various Linux Mint editions. Newer versions of some of these packages may require compiling them from their source code though. So the only real difference when it comes to security systems are the apps that come ...

For penetration testing and security why not mint [SOLVED]

Why do hackers, black or white hat, choose to use Kali or Parrot over other linux os' like mint? Most of the built in open source security orientated packages built into Kali are available to most linux users I have noticed in most used repositories. Why not just choose the os that is easiest to use...

Re: Updates Fail

more thing real quick so we can get out of this thread, but what did the arguments mean? -i; -s etc.? Are they different shells like bash? No, all the commands I gave you will use your default shell (usually bash). Those parameters are about how the environment gets set up. I'll point you to the ma...
