Re: Mint 17 and 18 AMDGPU drivers! Look here before doing anything!

The main trick is that xorg-server must be updated to xorg 1.19 or the modules won't load due to ABI mismatch. This may require you to enable the unstable packages repository: apt install xserver-xorg-hwe-16.04 Thanks, it worked when installed apt install xserver-xorg-hwe-16.04 packet before the am...

Here is what it said. Posting this in part so I have a copy of what it said. Hi, you seem to be from Argentina like myself. Your repositories seems to be .com.ar... I would recommend you that change to main repositories just in case Argentinian ones are not avaiable or something. Also, when you run...

Re: Installing AMDGPU-PRO in 18.3 breaks graphics

ups... maybe removing the driver with synaptic it didnt roll-back the changes it made when installing. I am no guru, but I would... install xserver-xorg-video-radeon (in case you want to go back to mint stock driver), reinstall amd driver just like the first time. Reboot. You might get a black scree...

Re: Installing AMDGPU-PRO in 18.3 breaks graphics

Thanks for answering! As far as I little know, "amdgpu" and "radeon" (this one is linixmint default when fresh install) drivers are community drivers and not AMD propietary one. You can see the description if you search for amdgpu description within synaptic package manager for i.e. Also, some games...

I upgrade to 18.3 and tried the amd amdgpu-pro-17.40-492261 driver install again, but no luck... same problem than before :( It would be useful I think, if someone that could rightly install this driver could post the output of these commands so we can compare: uname -a lshw -C video glxinfo -B Than...

Re: [SOLVED] Installing AMDGPU-PRO in 18.3 breaks graphics

Hello, I tried the same you did renaming 10-amdgpu-pro.conf to .BAK, and it seems to work. My problem was that I got a blackscreen after reboot, and the only way to recover was uninstalling amd drivers. I might be wrong, but I think that what you did renaming that file is not loading amdgpu-pro driv...

Re: AMD 17.40 OpenGl GLX extension not supported by display

Also tried kernels 4.10.0-40-generic and 4.10.0-38-generic (cleaning unused versions first)

The same done in Ubuntu 16.04 and works without problem :-/

Re: How to check if AMD R9-290x running at best performance

Hi, have you had that performace with radeon drivers installed as you shown with "inxi -Fx" command? I guess that the AMD drivers would give you better performace (I test some games with steam valve like Alien with the defautl radeon driver, and before you start up the game it gives you a warring ab...

Hello, I read this thread and follow AMD install instructions but no luck with amdgpu-pro-17.40-492261 on Linux Mint Mate 18.2 (kernel 4.10.0-38-generic) (I change the ubuntu to linuxmint string as told in the guides, so the installation seems to install fine.) Hi, I recently installe 18.2 mate version, my video card is a Spahhire Nitro R9 390 8gb, it works good with default Xserver-xorg-video-radeon installed.
