Re: Busybox After Fresh Install

Thanks for the reply, it didn't work though!!

I've managed to get it up and running, the 18.3 I had on the USB seemed to be screwed. So I downloaded 18.2, copied to USB, booted LiveCD, installed and hey presto all working.

now updating to 18.3 via update manager.

I have Mint back YAY!!!

Busybox After Fresh Install

Hi, I've re-installed Mint for one reason or another and I've hit a brick wall. After installing my system is now booting into the Busybox terminal. Cannot for the life of me get it to boot into Mint. I've had a look online and done some fsck /dev/sda1 & fsck /dev/sda6 checks from within busybox and...

Re: PHP Help

Cheers for the reply. I've now noticed that when I do some testing once I've manipulated it, the whole URL gets screwed up so for some reason it looks like this: bangsthought.com/twang-barney-rubble/%20via%20%40BangsThought So instead of @Username at the end its just garbage, but when you look at th...

New HUGE Apple Mac Vulnerability found means anyone can access as root using a few key strokes

It's just been reported that ANY Apple Mac can be accessed by a complete IT novice using just a few key strokes. This is a bit nuts:

Re: PHP Help

Thanks for the repsonse Joe, the detail always helps sorry!!. Basically I've got a self hosted wordpress blog which utilizes a tweet button for sharing. Basically I'm not a fan of the way it constructs the tweet. I've tried contacting the people who wrote the original script but no joy. This tweet i...

Re: Can't boot Windows without the install USB plugged in

When you've got to the point no boot media found it's sort of a good sign as grub has gone, but obviously doesn't help your scenario at that point. When I've had those messages in the past it was with Win7, so I was able to use the install media to launch the installer, I then go into repair system ...

Just joined and looks interesting but does seem a bit like a mass of self promotion. Lots of boosts and wiring things and dollar signs lol (which I don't really have an issue with, i signed up to monetise my channel straight away as it gave me the option to do so) , I'll give it a go and see whats i...

Re: Can't boot Windows without the install USB plugged in

Have you tried using a tool called called EasyBCD. Free for personal use. When I've had issues with dual booting in past and had issues with windows firing up this has saved me. Boot into windows and try it from there. http://neosmart.net/EasyBCD/ Also read the guide you have tried, when in CMD laun...

I've been a member of a few forums, and this one for not too long, and I must say it's a very polite, friendly and well mannered forum, very refreshing indeed.. I joined a site yesterday (not really a forum in any way shape or form) and got shot down with an uzi within seconds for what I thought was...

Re: How To Make Firefox Quantum the Default Browser??

@ wizzybang.... You said "When you choose to make it your default browser is it remembering your setting in preferences before you close the browser again?" Well no... that is the problem. When it launches and asks you, if you ignore the prompt and don't set the default browser initially, then try ...

Re: What made you switch to Linux Mint?

A bit random really why I moved over to mint. Was made redundant so gave laptop back to work a few weeks ago, have fairly old Lenovo R500, 3gb RAM, Dual Core P8400. Vista ran like a dog and also unsupported, which decided to give up on me. Had no media to re-install and would have been an idiot to d...

Re: Firefox 57...Quantum

We have lift off :-) One of my niggles is the titlebar in cinnamon, the extension I used to hide it has been disabled. But I have found a way to hide it again if anyone is interested, follow the guide here and it should make the bar disappear, worked first time for me. https://gist.github.com/nanpuy...
