Re: Okular seems to print only in Econo Mode
I think, I have fixed the issue by means of the following commands: % sudo lpadmin -p <my_printer> -o HPPJLEconoMode-default=false % sudo lpadmin -p <my_printer> -o HPPJLEconoMode=false I only found these options by opening the HPLIP toolbox, selecting "View Printer and Device Information"...

Re: Okular seems to print only in Econo Mode
I had a look at the flatpak version, but am hesitant to add a ~1.3GB installation to my system. Furthermore, I found out in the meantime, that postscript files that I print per % lp <postscript file> suffer from the same problem. The printout looks as, if it was printed in Econo mode. However, when ...

Re: Epson ET-15000 not working and scanner not found
Maybe your system is suffering from the same issue that mine does, that was reported earlier (see https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=328509 ) and that I just found a workaround for? This is my system: New desktop computer (mainboard, CPU, DIMM, SSD, DVD writer, mini tower, power supply) Ol...

Re: Okular seems to print only in Econo Mode
I might give v23.08.4 a chance. How did you install v23.08.4?
- Is it part of a Mint release?
- Is it a flatpak installation?
- Did you compile it yourself?
- Or any other way of installation?

Re: Okular seems to print only in Econo Mode
I made some progress. The problem is not caused by the Econo mode, but by the per default lacking rasterization and "Fit to printable area" scale mode. Okular 2024-02-26_22-22.png When I tick "Force rasterization", I get a high quality printout. Unfortunately, I fail to see a way...

Re: Okular seems to print only in Econo Mode
Thanks for your reply Mike,
I am running Okular 21.12.3. The Econo mode is turned off. I think your printer's "Save Toner" option corresponds to my printer's "Econo Mode". Regards
Tom

Okular seems to print only in Econo Mode [Solved]
Dear All, I am running OS: Linux Mint Mate 21.3 Printer: HP Color Laser Jet Pro M252dw Print system: CUPS 2.4.1 on a new computer set up from scratch. Re: Synaptic Package Manager: Problem to remove obsolete packages
I have written a shell script that logged the process table every 0.5s. This is the result of my attempt to remove the mintUpdate installed kernel 5.4.0-159 with Synaptic until the error was reported or the removal was executed (I have skipped 42 processes that were started after the execution was s...

Re: Synaptic Package Manager: Problem to remove obsolete packages
In the past 5 weeks I ran a number of tests whenever a new kernel update was provided. This is what I have found out: In Synaptic both actions "Mark for Removal" and "Mark for Complete Removal" have the same effect as the aforementioned problem is concerned. So, the complete remo...

Re: Synaptic Package Manager: Problem to remove obsolete packages
@MIZoG Thanks for your thoughts. That's what I thought as well, however the problem occurred after Installation of a kernel update per Update Manager Reboot Start-up of Synaptic to deinstall the old kernel Between the restart and the start of Synaptic, I did not (deliberately) use any other apt-mana...

Re: Synaptic Package Manager: Problem to remove obsolete packages
Thanks for the hint about the Softmaker repository. I have updated it to refer to "stable" rather than "wheezy". Active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/additional-repositories.list 1: deb http://shop.softmaker.com/repo/apt stable non-free Still I would be surprised, if this...

Re: Synaptic Package Manager: Problem to remove obsolete packages
@Jo-con-Ël I did not change the hardware of my system when I upgraded from LM 19.3 to LM 20.3. I also do not see, how the hardware should affect the operation of Synaptic Package Manager. So here are the requested "inxi -Fxxxzr" results w/o the hardware sections. System: Kernel: 5.4.0-156-...

Re: Printer not printing PDFs correctly
@Infused Mint The problem you are reporting sounds familiar to me. Whenever I encountered this problem, it was not a problem of the printer but a problem of the given pdf file, which did not embed all the fonts it did use. You have to be aware that a printer does not have all the fonts installed as ...

Linux Mint Mate Upgrade 19.3 > 20: umask issue
Dear All, in the course of my recent upgrade from LM Mate 19.3 to LM Mate 20 I ran into a problem that I had already encountered, when I upgraded from LM Mate 18.3 to LM Mate 19. The user account that I used in both cases has a conservative umask setting of % umask 027 I have followed the recommende...

Linux Mint Mate 20.3: Update Manager in system tray reponds only once
Dear All, after upgrading and updating from Mate 19.3 to Mate 20.3 one week ago, I noticed that the update manager (5.8.4) in the system tray can only be opened once by clicking on the corresponding icon per login session. I am aware that this issue has already been dicussed and has unfortunately be...

[SOLVED] Linux Mint Mate 20.3: Failed to start LSB ... upon entering runlevel 1 (single)
Dear All I just upgraded my computer from Linux Mint Mate 19.3 to Linux Mint Mate 20.3. After the upgrade and my configurations were completed, I decided to create a backup. I created the first backup with timeshift, which completed without any problems. Afterwards, I wanted to create an old fashion...

Re: Replacing default system browser
@SaberClassMor I (still) run Linux Mint Mate 19.3 rather than Cinnamon 20.3, but I think what you need to do is: Start Synaptics Package Manager Search for "firefox" and and mark all installed packages of firefox for "complete removal" Search for "chromium" and mark all...

Epson V600 with VueScan-worked under LM 19 I am sorry, this thread is dedicated to the Epson Perfection 3170 Photo. Maybe, I should have added this to its title. This thread does not deal with other Epson scanners. However, there seem to be other threads addressing V600 topics in this forum. Please...
